Joma Cup appearance in the balance
« on July 18, 2010, 08:37:45 pm by DonnyBazR0ver »
Interview with SOD after Solihull game. He say he's only just found out matches will be restricted to 3 subs.

Had he have known that he wouldn't have entered the team. Says he doesn't want to risk any more injuries and who can blame him.

Says he's going to appeal and hopefully sense will prevail.

I think the headline is a bit misleading. No danger of us not taking part but SO'D is clearly upset about the 3/ 5 subs bit. Hopefully if all the clubs agree the rule can be changed.

I get the feeling that we might not be progressing too far in the tournament though, even though we're in what appears to be the easiest group.

One other thing of interest is that there are no draws, even in the group stages. If the game is level after 90 mins there is a penalty shoot out.

It'll be a bit of a bugger then if each team wins one of their games 1-0 and loses the other 1-0. ;)

oh dear! that would make a bit of a pickle!

Bearing in mind we're supposed to be trying to 'hit the ground running' at the start of this season, we're in danger of over-committing ourselves at this rate. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, we all know that, but we're in the ridiculous situation where we have first teamers (already) who are not going to be ready for the kick-off and several who have question marks hanging over their heads.

If we get past Monday and Wednesday's games succesfully, we'll have 1 or 2 more games to see out and then we face WBA and Wendies the following week! I think we're in danger of risking a few more injuries and I'm tending to agree with SOD - is this competition necessary?

Injuries to:

Chambers
JOC
Oster
Wilson

Shiels poorly

Brooker - who knows?

It's to be hoped these 'agreed' loan signings are agreed.

Well, there's work to be done.

SOD has biggest budget yet and Sharpy has been bought outside the budget.

Gillett and Friend have not cost anything in transfers so, there must be a good size pot left.

It's clear from SODs body language he's not happy with the squad we've got. I get the feeling more of his targets have been scuppered. Caulker and Keogh maybe.

I hope he has something up his sleeve and with Chambers, Wison and Oster missing the start of the season it could be a slow start.

Much and JET will be welcome additions and perhaps Josh Payne and Logan would bolster the squad.

I still think we need a quality centre half and another front runner. May be Vokes might be on the radar if Keogh is going to command a fee.

Then again if we've not spent anything why not go for Garner ?

Pity Shackell prostituted himself to the highest bidder. Tart !!

Centre back has to remain as the one main priority, though, as SOD has said all along that he wanted (as a minimum) a striker (we got Sharp), a midfielder (we got Gillet) and a centre back (as yet, unfulfilled).
