The Keepmoat site hasn't been updated for about three weeks - not even the ticket rules for the Leeds game, which has been on DROS for a couple of weeks now.

I think a few more Bristol City fans have been put on the gate now they are entering (another) new era under Keith Millen.

It's been 6.1k for 2-3 weeks now, that site never bloody gets updated. Look at the KMS website and try and buy a ticket online and choose your seat, theres more then 6k been sold. On tuesday at 4pm it said we had sold 1.8k for the cup match but 4.6k were there.

Now, been having a think, does the number of tickets sold include the season tickets sold or is it simply the number of individual tickets excluding season tickets. If it's the latter thats not too bad considering it's been weeks since the figure was updated, so attendance could be well over 12-13000

I'll be working tomorrow...and any other Saturday if it's offered to me. In this economic climate I can't afford to turn it down and i'm sure i'm not the only one who will take overtime over football on a Saturday

JR Quoted in Free Press \"...but if we can get 10000 of our own fans to every home match I'll be happy\"

OK John, are you aware the first home games of a season are not that well attended ?

1. kids are on holiday, so there are always plenty who miss the first game or two.

Last few seasons first home attendances, 10070, 9484, 11873, 7542, 6081 (Belle Vue)

2. Does he know there's a race meeting on ? The very same reason we used to play on a Friday night.

3. There's a recession on, hence sales are down.

Very optimistic to hope for 10000.

Would be good to get 9500,more realistic to expect around 8500 !

rovers on look north in a min, sounds like another plea for new fans. Maybe its time we accepted the town is not bothered.

“Lower the prices and they will come” is the traditional cry of the football supporter.  But increasing “bums on seats” has to be looked at in a wider context.

Rovers have, say, 9,000 stalwarts who pay, say, £20 each, generating total revenue of £180,000 per game.

If Ryan drops prices by, say, 25%, a heck of a reduction, to £15 per bum, you will need to attract a crowd of  12,000 to generate the same revenue.

But what if prices are reduced, and Rovers hit a bad run of form/suffer a spate of injuries and have a poor season.  Low prices or not, the floating fan is unlikely to be attracted to watch a losing team.  At best, the stalwarts keep coming but the loyal 9,000, paying £15 each, generate only £135,000 revenue per game, a shortfall of £45,000.

Do you really think your Chairman is going to take a gamble that smacks more of Ridsdale than Ryan?  Whilst Ryan appears to have more empathy for the man in the street than the average Chairman, he will have deliberated long and hard to identify the best financial model for your club and is there really any one on here qualified to come up with a better solution?

Yes, it’s a simplistic argument, based on a lot of “says”, but, ground capacity permitting, take it to it’s logical conclusion; if prices are halved, where are 9,000 additional fans going to appear from?

Abdolutely right wellygogs but some still don't get the reasoning of what is really very simple economics.
You can sell beer at a festival for £1 a pint and only 50 turn up instead of the expected 500. It's ticket only and nobody else chooses to listen to the bands, quite simply that will be the limit of your market and a resulting huge ......LOSS.

Oi. No one, you or me or anyone else of sound mind on this forum has ever indicated that reducing prices to an unsustainable level is the way to go.

Balance between supply and demand, for any business, is the holy grail.

Now come on, can you honestly say the club has done all it can in it's research and pitched the pricing and marketing policy at a level that appeals ?

ST sales say otherwise. If it's simple economics how can you raise prices and generate less revenue ?

How do you lose 2000 ST holders in your most successful period ?

it was a bizzare move on the part of rovers, to put prices up in a recession. i can only think they thought, the increase would cover the lack of sales. no matter how much the increase, it would make  people think twice before buying.

I suspect we'll get a crowd of around 10,000 tomorrow.

Probably a heavy contingent of traveling supporters from Brizzle.

What 300?

According to a City fan on fb, all they've sold supposedly.

People moan about prices , holidays , recession etc  as a way to  justify our expected low attendence even after our opening day supurb victory over PNE.
But then go on about 18,500 sales for the races & some boy band that young girls  will want to drool over . Well i for one can't see why anyone would choose to ponce around  watching  some horses run around over watching the Rovers.
Come on lets get our mates /friends etc down to show the board our support for their financial imput in our club we all love & surely enjoy the day.

Looking on the keepmoat site at the select your own seat thingy, there doesn't seem to be a great deal of empty seats, plus you'll have those turning up at the last minute. We might scrape 10k.

What about this JR thing saying if you had a season ticket in the Championship and we got promoted you will get a FREE Premiership season ticket...or was that last season? Is this still the case?

Yep seems to be the case, bar the South which might be a bit quieter than previous.

Rovers have, say, 9,000 stalwarts

ST sales say we have 5692 stalwarts.
