Oh, perhaps time to buy in English talent :laugh: I've started to do that, although I do tend to go a bit crazy when I'm given a big budget when I go up..

I always let the 5 players in the reserves go - purely because they aren't good enough. I let Shiels go immediately, because I needed the money and I had a loan deal lined up for a Russian kid (forget the name - had to scout him out) who was already better than Deano. Also, try to get hold of Devann Yao - good impact sub in the Championship (especially on t'right wing) - just a shame he can't really cut it, as well at least, in the top flight.

Won promotion in my second season in exciting style. I was top 2 for around 90% of the season but then dropped to 3rd with 41 games gone and won promotion on the last day. I lost my star Czech defender for £3.5m but Hird and Martis stepped up to the plate (aalthough when they wobbled I got Anton Ferdiannd in on loan to partner Seip. There was a long period of the season though when my back 4 consisted of players from the current squad (JOC/Dumbuya, Hird, Martis, Spurr). Billy banged them in for fun, as did my loanee Nick Blackman, ably backed up by Hayter.

I signed a lot of players offered to me on frees by agents but I know I need to bring some serious quality in this summer. I signed Mason on a free but loaned him straight out.

Oster and Wilson just departed on frees so I've still got:
First team regulars: JOC, Dumbuya, Spurr, Gillett, Copps, Billy, Shiels, Martis
Fringe: Hayter, Friend, G.Woods, Hird,
Phasing out: M. Woods, Fairhurst, Bennett

Sounds like a very good squad. I've found it's best to try and keep a decent core of the old squad rather than a full scale changing of the guard - fell apart the first time I had a clearout! :laugh:

I'd try and bring in a good few free agents as you can get some real quality for nothing (well, no transfer fee, anyway).

Dunno RedJ, theres always a new update before i get the chance to find out!

Just finished by 2016 season and its been interesting. Got knocked out of the FA and League cup by Chelsea (played them about 5 times this season). Strolled to the Prem by about 8 points, not sure how. Just never had a challenger. The Champions League os where it gets interesting.

In the 1st knockout round i was 3-1 down against Athletico Madrid before winning 4-0 at home. Beat Juventus in quarters before i met Inter in the semis. I was 1-0 down after losing the first leg at home. Went 1-0 down after 2 minutes in the second leg and had 2 men sent off before half time! Got a goal early in the second half before my £11m wonderkid smashed in a free kick from 40 yards with 5 minutes left.

Had Porto in the final..scored with 3 minutes left to make it 2-2 and take it to extra time. Ended up winning 5-2 and hey presto i've defended the Champions League

As for players. Raul Nava got player of the year (20 games in 25 games). Getting a bit stuck now. I've got my youth players but they are all a few years away yet. Need to improve my first team but there are sooo expensive. Found a CB worth £6m but all my offers were turned down. I saved my game to find out how much it would cost. They eventually accepted £80m and for a contract the agent wanted £6m signing fee for him and his player plus £150k a week with £100k appearance fee. Decided that i'll leave him\\

How about everyone else?

I'm struggling second time around at my first shot in the Premiership. Lost my first 6 games and even a brief run of form sees me still averaging less than a point a game. Fortunately there are a lot of teams in a similar position and in my first game it wasn't until Xmas until Ifound my feet so I haven't given up just yet.

:laugh: Middlesbrough style European cup run :P very good :P £80m for a £6m rated player? Christ alive... Raul Nava - is he real or a regen?

DN - :laugh: sounds a bit like the real us last year, but in reverse. I'd raid the loan market about now if I were you and get some quality in down that route.

I will type up one of my games eventually :laugh:

yeah Raul Nava is real. Only cost £2m at the beginning of my 1st season in the Prem and he's well worth it. Shame he's just broken his leg and is out till Christmas

There aren't any loan players good enough for my team. Messi is only rated at 4 stars when I scout him and a 3 star player is a leading Prem standard. I've got replacements for every position so i can't complain really

I play a 4-1-2-3. I concede a fair few but generally outscore the opponent. Il sort a download out or just post the instructions if anyone wants to try it. I am currently 2nd in the Premier league after coming 13th in my 1st season, then 8th last.

Few regens in my team, but notable key players are Carlos Vela, Pichu Atienza.

I remember Sixto Peralta was brilliant for me in the championship.

Would love that :) it'll go nicely with my current formation - looking for one other than my 4-2-4 thingy.

By the way, if anyone wants a PDF copy of a FM11 handbook guide, drop me a PM with email address.

Thought I'd post here.

I'm currently finishing my 2067/68 season. I have a 2nd new stadium which holds 76,000.

Champions League 2052/55/64
Premier League 2049/53/60/61
UEFA Cup 2027/48/49
Super Cup 2027/48/55/64
FA Cup 2031/53/57/66
Club World Championship 2052/55/64
League Cup 2026/31/52/53/56/58/67
Community Shield 2031/49/57/60/66

It's been a rollercoaster ride including having a New Zealand chairman who ploughed money into the club and when I had a team of very well paid superstars he upped off and left, the Kitson, so I struggled with money and had to rebuild. During that time, though, I spent £90m on one striker which is the most expensive transfer in the game to date.

Holy crap thats unreal! 2068? Which FM are you running btw? Are you Rovers btw?

I'd have thought you'd have won more but if the money goes then you are screwed i suppose. When were you able to build a new stadium because i'm selling out my 20000 stadium every match

Been with Rovers for 21,103 days :) FM2011.

I know it's a very small trophy collection for over 50 years but still. I can't remember, I got mine upgraded to 20,000 then got a 56,000 one when my chairman came in and this 78,000 one in 2067. It takes a while for new stadiums plus you have to have money in the bank.

I neglected my staff for years which probably why my progress seems little. I am the 18th richest club in the world, Ajax are 1st.

I've just finished my 4th season;

1st season - missed out on play-offs on final day of season;
2nd season - won the Championship and reached semi-final of League Cup;
3rd season - finished 16th in Premiership;
4th season - finished 10th & runner up in League Cup, though still qualified for Europe.

The KM is now slightly over 20,000 capacity & Andy Liney took over from John Ryan at the start of the 3rd season.

Finally, Finally took delivery of the game today - so a few questions

Where is the best place to get the latest updates?

Is it better to start as Rovers or a blue Square club?

Cheers

If the computer you've loaded it onto is connected to the internet then it updates through the offical Steam interface.

I'd start with Rovers tbh on the original with no updates cos there are more free agent players

You could have waited a month or so for FM 2012 to come out tho

If you're not on Steam, then the Sports Interactive site for the game.

I'd start with Rovers, but then you may want a more \"realistic\" experience and start with a BSP/N club to build a career from the bottom.

On the subject of the next version, are we starting another big fcukoff thread for it? :laugh:

Good stuff - I'd suggest Salomon Olembe and Matthieu Berson, too - both very good free agents (even on the final update, I think they're both free) and if you get offered a lad named Bobson, snap him up. Get him in form and by the end of your first season he'll be worth upwards of £1.5million.

How good is Larsen anyway?
