 if you can hold United to a draw you're doing something right. And you must be, shame, cos they're reliable as hell.

Lost 2-1 not a bad display - 4 bookings on each team - is that normal???

Looks like a very good outfit you've got there. It can be, it just depends on how you've set up your tactics, and how they have theirs - will also be affected by harshness of the ref on the game day.

I started,my signings...

Drew 1-1 with QPR,first game,Mendy scored.

Beat Chesterfield 3-2 in leauge cup, brace for Sharp,Mendy got the other.

Drew 1-1 with Bristol City.

Expected to lose both my leauge games so 2 points are a welcome bonus...

Goncalves who was a really hard deal to complete finally signed and torn his hamsting,4-5 month injured.

What do we think then?

 I haven't really looked through the second lot myself, I only remembered I had them (they were originally for FM10 but most of it goes for 11 too) when I went to find the first one.

Glad it was of use - built a good set of tactics from that. Still a liability with a big budget though

How difficult does this game wanna be - even after adding all the heavily tipped ' quality loans' i have only reached the dizzy heights of 23rd!!!  Im 7pts adrift heading into January with a tricky FA Cup 3rd tie with Lincoln coming up! Gulp!!

Its quite realistic in that one month you can win every game then all of a sudden (with the same players and tactics) start losing and get in a slump.

A trick i've tried is to pack the midfield with a DM and AM as when i play badly there is no link between my defence, midfield and attack and this stops them getting isolated

I'd make good use of the philosophies in the team instructions bit.

Anyone else unable to get onto \"match preparation\" after you originally set that up?

Has it disappeared? Try going on Manager Options bit and seeing if the let Assistant set match preparation is selected.

On the manager options, but don't see that.

I mean when I click Doncaster then between Training and Backroom Advice, by the way :) in case you're thinking of something different.

Well interesting start, not had much time to play on it in truth so only just finished August.

Unbeaten at the end of August so far,4th in the leauge with 8 points, through to round 3 of the leauge cup where i'll play Birmingham, expecting defeat.

Almost certain for defeat though as i play Cardiff next, with the squad they have they'll hammer me,injuries are taking there toll,(sigh)

Still Alex Smithies has been very impressive his first few games and looks a quality buy,Shiels has done well for me too scoring a few.

 I like Shiels on here. He's a lot better than in real life.. perhaps due to the thing said earlier about being two footed..

New poster on this forum.
Saw this thread and couldn't help but take a peek, big football manager fan. :clapping:

Not strictly sticking to the topic title as i started as Southampton today, just entering end of August and about to play Derby in the league cup second round.

Won all my games so far quite convincingly to be honest,Leigh Grittiths has been banging them in for fun so far and looks a great signing as do Demerit and Mendy,Grittiths scored 4 on his debut as i beat Colchester 4-0,also smashed Charlton 5-0 which was a massive shock, scraped past Hartlepool 3-2.

7 goals in 4 games for Grittiths, great form to be fair.

 no worries pal, good luck with the southern jessies   - as I've said earlier on, if you get the chance of Kevin Bobson, snap him up - Devann Yao is a great little impact player too, especially at that level (not so much in the top flight unfortunately)

Also - try and find a CB called Alessando playing for Lech Poznan - only young lad, but he turns out to be absolute quality, and you can sell him on for real megabucks if you want to get rid. I'd do everything you can to get him in - the likes of Barca and Inter come sniffing soon enough.

Currently just finishing the 2020 season in my career game.  I'm with Derby at the moment.  Took them over in league 1 where they were 8th, won promotion that season.  Then straight through the Championship.  Settled as a top of the table club but just cannot win anything.  Knocked out in the semis of Carling cup and Champions League and looks like I'll finish 5th by 1 point so it'll be Uefa cup.  Bad times.

I prefer the young player approach though and always go after youngsters.  Pace is a huge attribute on the wings and up front I reckon.  I play a 4-1-3-2 formation with a DM and an AM.  I'm so far in now though and with so many youngsters that all my players are regens :D

As for finishing 5th - is it too late in the season to expect a collapse from above strong enough to squeeze into 4th? I'd use mind games if there's still a chance to catch them.

I like a mix of youth and experience. A few old heads in the XI and on the bench, and the rest, quality youngsters (or young lads that could be quality but won't go out on loan). I need to get out of the habit of just picking up players cos they're available though.. real liability with a big budget.

Well I left Donny and went to Portsmouth in my third season. What a mistake that is proving to be.
Got to play offs with Rovers in my 2nd, but started the thirs season badly and the players were unhappy so I jumped before I was pushed.
Doing shite with Portsmouth.
