VSC lunchtime meet up at P'Boro???
« on September 28, 2011, 09:10:00 pm by Gartom »
Hi all,
Been reading all the insights re our new, exciting situation! A few lines made me smile - to say the least.:)  ....but then again why let the truth get in the way of a good story!!!

Steve Kendrick (Berkshire Rover)and I are heading up to P'boro on Saturday and thought it might be useful to have a 'get-together'with those who can make it -  to go thru all this 'exciting' stuff...and add our tuppence worth after our chat with JR recently - and please note I hope to talk to JR tomorrow too.

Any thoughts on a suitable venue where we could meet up about 1pm / 1.30 pm and have a chat...and a pint of course !
Cheers,
Gareth

As a shareholder I think the VSC has an obligation to it`s share holders to find out what really is going on at DRFC, there`s a lot of speculation and hear say at the moment, some of it may be true or it might all be a load of shite, personally myself, as a shareholder in the VSC which in turn is a shareholder in DRFC have a right to know!

The Brewery Tap opposite the station is excellent. Real ales and thai food aplenty.

It opens at 12 so if you get there early enough and don't go looking for a good ruck I'm sure you'll be fine. Not wearing replica shirts is always good. ;)

Something a bit closer to the ground may be better for those of us travelling by coach though....

Mmmm- could be just the place for me. I'm on the train on Saturday. Expecting to get in around 12.30. I think the bus stops are just around the corner so it may be possible to get a bus to London Road after lunch and a few beers.

This may be one of the reasons folk are reluctant to join the VSC, my comment, a valid one at that, has been completely ignored in favour of a debate about where to have a pre match pint!

Filo,

A very valid question, and most of what you have asked has been answered in various formats this week. However I hardly think that a thread about meeting up for a pint is the right place to ask the question that you did. This thread is about meeting up for a pint, maybe you could meet up on Saturday and get a fuller answer to your question? If not then we could do it some other time to suit.

It's already in hand, Dave.  The question was raised yesterday, and I spoke with Gareth yesterday afternoon the express that we need to speak with John.  Gareth is having a telephone call with him today.

Hi,
Yes - just to stress - we always welcome any Rovers fan at our meetings - or pub haunts ! Please come along so we can have a good ole chat / overview.

As to Filo, sorry you feel ignored - I'm not on the forum 24/7 you know!
Yes we are looking into the whole affair - and asking those awkward questions...but I still dont have all the answers....watch this space

Martin, I take the point that probably a thread about a lunchtime pub meet is perhaps not the ideal place to post it, but given the implication that the meet was to discuss recent events, I thought the question might be relevant to the meet up. As for being at the meeting, unfortunately I will not be there, away games are out for me on a Saturday as I start work at 6pm on Saturdays nights, home games are a mad rush to get home in time!

Rob, glad to hear things are in hand, I know sometimes things are said in high places that are confidential, but a little more communication sometimes would n`t go amiss, especially with all the speculation going around at the moment.

Gareth, I know you can`t be on the forum 24/7 and you do a great job, keep up the good work and lets hope you get some honest answers when you talk to JR

Woofies - club for the bronzed and beautiful man?

Serving all manner of beers and pie and peas apparently.
