Bathroom Fitter / Tiler
« on January 27, 2012, 01:45:50 am by DaveDRFC »
We are after having our bathroom refitted and tiled, has anyone got any recommendations for decent tradesmen? Been searching for ages, got completely ripped off by the guys who did our en suite so looking elsewhere for the main bathroom.

You don't happen to know a very good roofer who can diagnose problems as well do you?

That applies to anyone else on here as well.

Been let down so many times in last few months with people promising to come and then not bothering....or turning up and not really convincing me that they are very competent.

If you get any quotes of a Tiler in the donny area called Rich (Biggish guy with stubble, from out stainton/tickhill way) think twice.

He did our bathroom/kitchen in our last house and because he clearly hadn't a clue about tiling (aparently it turns out afterwards he was more a scaffolder! :headbang:  ). He didn't tile anywhere properly, slate flooring cracked and grout was poor, tiles weren't straight and he was just shite. Eventually after he re-did several areas I thought sod it and thought I could live with it.

Then after 14 months shower started leaking through to kitchen and I was eventually told it would need totally re-tiling. Insurance got shower re-tiled and plastic ceiling put up in kitchen.

... We moved soon after that so got outta the expensive refit though

EDIT: We got 4 quotes too and he wasn't the cheapest, so word of mouth DEFINATELY the way to go!

Ange Skidmore did my kitchen floor and walls last Feb.
Cracking job as well. She's also done a few friends who are all happy.
