Can someone please tell me the difference between kits...

Between these two shirts?! Alright, one has red down the sides and one has white, but everything else is pretty much identical! Why have such a similar shirt design as one 2 seasons ago?!

It may be a subtle change but does retain our identity.

I tend to find that after one or two (max) seasons, my shirts are past their best and have snags, bobbles, etc. So I have no issue in getting the new shirt every year or two.

I don't suppose there is a great deal they can do other than alter the width of hoops.
A plainer shirt opens up more options I'd think.

I'm glad it's more red than white, I just wish we'd go back to red shorts instead of black.

Surely it's a good thing that there's not too much change in the shirt design, especially for those that can't afford a new one.

The top kit is probably my favourite Rovers kit in recent years. We should have stuck with that!

At the risk of being labelled pedantic, neither design has hoops as the side bands break the hoops (or rings) preventing them from being continuous. So they are really horizontal stripes.

You can do everything with a hooped shirt that you can with a plain one. Different collars, shades of red, patterns, panels, fabrics, loose cut, narrow cut, everything. And you have the option of fat hoops or thin hoops or fat red hoops and thin White hoops and vica versa.

A hooped shirt design is actually more flexible.

The problem here I bet is they don't have many templates available to them and they won't do a new design just for the Rovers.

I hate the solid backs, ugly! Last years shirt was a beauty.

Seems strange that they gave us a unique design last year but have now refused to.  If it wasn't for the white away kit they may as well just gone back to using the 2010/2011 shirt with the solid white back.

I'm pretty sure we started last season with red shorts and socks, what happened to those?

John Ryan said that the last time Doncaster Rovers wore red shorts in the Second Division they were relegated, and they only played any decent in Black Shorts. Tbh though last years kit was made for Black shorts, whereas the year before was made for red shorts.

The badge on the arm will be different this season.  It will say T'Old Division 3 instead of T'Old Division 2

To be fair,  anyone who expects any radical change to our shirt's design whilst we are using Nike templates will be disappointed. 

However,  I'd expect much more scope with the away/3rd kit.
