Great signing !

What, in 6 games? And then was released!!

Not really done much since leaving Bristol City, HOWEVER, he does have a lot of potential that the coaching team can hopefully get him to deliver.

Very optimistic that if he does sign, then hopefully he'll recapture that early promise with a long run in the team.

Always had promise never really fulfilled it though. Let's hope he settles here, in league 1 he could be a big assett, always a gamble but a gamble worth taking he's not that old.

Actually he got injuried - but hey lets ignore the facts!

Always thought he's looked a decent player the few occasions I've seen him.

To have him playing in League One is quite a coup for the club and if this is the quality of player we are looking to get in, then the future looks good.

I think he'll probably be a decent signing in League One. Although I don't think he quite 'ripped up' the Championship, I don't think he ever looked out of place there, so in our league I expect he'll do well.

Its on Wikipedia so it must be official.

He was released at the end of the 2011-2012 season by Barnsley manager Keith Hill and subsequently joined Doncaster Rovers on 27th June 2012 as they look to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

"Ripped up the championship" no chance if he had Barnsley would have signed him on again or at least another championship club. But a good signing always looked a good prospect but hasnt quite delivered yet hopefully he will deliver here

Wouldn't always believe what you read on Wikipedia, i edited and put that in for the time being since it seems pretty certain he will sign.

I think this could be a great signing, I've always really rated him and I'm not sure what has happened since his time at Sheffield United.

You don't, there didn't seem much substance to the statement "That was totally tongue in cheek  I don't beleive anything on Wikipedia". I needed a reason...

Hopefully he lives up to his potential. This move could be exactly what both he and the club needs.

Cotterill, Earnshaw rumoured to be next.

Deano seems to be using his Welsh contacts quite well, Bale and Ramsey next please Deano!

I feel that we must give credit to Saunders and the board (who have seemingly made extra cash available for this signing) for making this a possibility.

@robstaton
"Saunders felt he couldn't afford to miss out on Cotterill and this afternoons second signing. Board backed him despite needing to cut costs."

I asked the Barnsley lads at work about him, they're fairly reasonable without ripping the p*ss too much. Said he wasn't anything special during his loan spell but he was playing in a poor 2nd half of the season Barnsley side. He had signed after their entire midfield were injured and Vaz Te sold, would have looked much better in their team before christmas. Scored a good goal for them towards the end of the season and they think that given a good run in a team he could be a good addition.

Happy with him in League 1.

Well he's never played lower than the Championship, so it must have been the clubs signing him and giving him games making a mistake... :silly:
