Imo today has been coming for a few weeks now. The same group turn up hardly able to walk to every game. One of the just fell on the floor first half as he was that pissed. I bet some of them aren't even 18.

Surely with the amount of fans there in the stands , there should have been enough room to accomodate both 'sitters' and 'standers' or was every seat taken ?

You don't pay for a view, you pay for a place ie a seat and the sapce immediately around it.

So you'd have no problem standing and blocking the view of someone like myself who HAS to sit down? You're a real charmer, you are.

i was sat directly behind the bloke who had the young lad by the scruff of the neck, the argument broke out over standing. on this occasion the bloke standing was around 4 rows from the front so obstructing the view of anyone behind him. he was asked to sit down numerous times politely then asked with a few stern words by the bloke behind him in the end he sat down. arguments broke out again which alerted the stewards, doing there job but there were too keen to get the two out before knowing the facts first, this then led to more fans trying to intervene which led to the police getting involved.

bearing in mind that the involved so far are grown men 30+ and a young lad 22+, so i feel the "young drunken idiots" tag is a little harsh. some youngsters got involved but this was mainly to show off and actually never threw a punch, the majority of punch throwers were over 25 years old atleast.

seating needs to be looked at as the atmosphere is killed as people are spreadout and aren't allowed to stand. anyone wanting to sit throughout should not then sit at the back as argument and scenes like this will happen repeatedly. older people and supporters wanting to sit should be allowed to enjoy the game, having the oppetunity to choose to sit near the front would help to stop this happening again.

I wasn't there so I'm not gonna start saying whether the stewards were too heavy handed or not, but the one detail everyone agrees on is that one lad grabbed another by the throat - that's not handbags. I think once you make an aggressive move like that there's only ever gonna be one outcome.

GW are you telling me that the place was that packed the seated pair couldn't move slightly away from those standing in front of them ? no wonder the game is becoming so sterile ! There seems to be something more of a feud in this rather than the standing/sitting debate from what I've read so far.

The lad who had his throat garbbed was very drunk. Should never of gone down to the lad in the first place. But he shouldn't of had his throat grabbed anyway. At the end of the day no one want to see this sort of thing. Gives us a bad name that we don't want.

Sorry, but I don't want to have to sit at the front with a crap view just because I have to sit down. I pay to have a decent view of the game, not a worm's-eye view. I've no problem with someone wanting to stand if they want to, but THEY should be the one to piss off and find somewhere else where it doesn't bother anybody.

If there are plenty of places the ones who want to stand should move, not those using the seats in the way they're intended to be used.

If you want to sit down you dont go near the back in the middle.

And how do you guarantee that when you're buying an away ticket, especially an allocated one?

If you want to stand you don't do it without consideraton for those behind you.

We sold 600 tickets out of over 1000 allocated. There should have been plenty of empty ones if people moved!

I agree and i wouldn't stand if somone behind me was sat down. But there are some people who like today will just tell you to do one. I thought it was unallocated today? I was told to sit anywhere.

Point taken either way there has to be a compromise , there are supporters at our place and when we travel who whinge and moan if folk stand at corner kicks, sustained attacks even penalties at times. We wonder why the atmosphere is sterile in stadia across the country ........I can tell you why no fecker is allowed to get excited anymore. That's one of the reasons many young'uns just can't be arsed to spend £20-25 to be treated like schoolkids.
Sit down , shut up and sit on your hands now seems to be the order of the day SADLY. No wonder they would prefer to do something more interesting  ; how long will it take before the drum goes, chants offend old ears and eventually disappear altogether whilst foggies spend most of their matches making anyone out for the day feel uncomfortable for standing /singing with their miserable comments and glares etc etc.
It sickens me just how precious and sterile many of our supporters have become. It's probably more interesting for many of the young and not so young (me) to spend 5/6 hours sitting in the A& E at DRI.  :( :( :(

BBC Tees said that there were 625 Rovers fans at the game in their match report. That end holds 1000 and no way was there 375 empty seats!

Means nowt I've done it recently and I'm 25 next week.

From what I saw stewards made it worse. Overheard one gloating about how many punches he got in - pathetic.

There wasn't much room though they could easily have sat near us where there were a few seats near the front. Despite any of it, it made for great scenes when we scored.

I know it means nowt, I've done it before and I'm in my 30's. but these were borderline probably 17/18.
Probably decent lads without the 6 pints down their neck

Certainly seems we are getting a reputation at away games.
Trouble after Sheff Utd. The incident at Leyton Orient, now this.

Reminds me of when we went down to the Conference. We pretty much terrorised every place we visited.

Well the stadium announcer said at full time that there were 650 away fans or something similar. It did look more, but then it always does when you're in the middle of it.

Then it's got to stop, we / the club have got to try and police ourselves as we always used to do in years gone by.
Btw for all those painting a picture of 'the best/nicest fans in the land ...........that has not always been the case. We've had many bad moments in the past, I just hoped we had changed for good but it seems these events are starting to sadly mount up. Eventually we will become a target for hostility from rival supporters if we carry on this way.
