According to Penney on the radio, Shelton did alright until he got pulled up by the ref in the 2nd half and apparently said something to him. After that, DP said, ref had a bee in his bonnet about Shelton and penalised him at every opportunity - including the penalty.
On today's performance no, but he won't be coming up against Steve Howard every week
You've got to expect a drop in performance, after a long lay-off like he's had,he come up against a very strong experienced striker in Steve Howard,i wasn't there, but maybe he should have been marked by Rob Jones, but according to the radio,Penney said they probably didn't want to move Jones from his normal left side centre-half,if we can keep Martis fit,he will only be an asset for us in this league, when fit he's a Championship defender!!
This a serious question?Of course he is a championship player easily.
Never mind if he is good enough anymore, he's never been good enough in the first place.
Did anyone else see Jones push Martis away when the ref called him over for the pen? It looked like Martis wanted to go over and have a word which would of been very risky seeing as he was on a yellow and the ref was already against him. I thought that was great leadership by Jones and probably helped us keep 11 on the pitch
Martis is one of the worst defenders we have ever had in terms of outlay. He has been with us for four seasons now on a mind blowing wage and what has he done? He's the most expensive liability to ever play for us. At least we could get rid of players like Harry Worley after a month.
I worry every time the ball goes in our box when The Mattress is playing, His first move is to push the player he is marking, and not in a very subtle way. His 2nd move is to grab the player he is marking again in not a very subtle way.He is a potential penalty on legs as far as I am concerned. When he is named on our team sheet opposing managers must be rubbing their hands togetherHe's not been pulled up by many refs but it would appear, I wasn't there, that on this occasion the ref has seen it. I look forward to reviewing the football league excerpt with a magnifying glass to see if I am correct,

Given the massive gulf between the quality of football & players in the two divisions, I would hope he would be able to step up to the mark. Let's see.
