That's probably a slight exaggeration. There has been some utter crap and a lot worse turned out for us last season.

Fair point but with all the hype and the reputation he came with I thought he was just useless never looked like any thing more than a pub team player shocking

The disrespect for the top footballers of Wicked Willie's football circus is flabbergasting.

Bamogo plays for Botev Plovdiv in the Bulgarian Premier League.
Plessis plays for Arles-Avignon in Ligue 2 in France.
Bagayoko signed for French third tier club US Luzenac last month.
Herold Goulon is stacking shelves in Tesco (the top shelves, that is).

So Goulon is still in the shop window then, surely he's well past his sell by date .  :)

Just goes to show, that the comments of putting these wasters in the shop window to secure them moves to top flight teams was utter horse shit.

Who was the other defender we had who no one ever saw? The one who could get Barcelona tickets I think.
When you look back now, it just proves how ridiculous it all was.

Diatta.

If I remember rightly though the shop window was meant to mainly be for young hungry players such as Robert that McKay had hold of, but due to our desperation we needed players in fast obviously and so we had the likes of Goulon and f**king Ilunga.

It could have worked had we gone down the first route, wasn't far off working til the very end of the second one but I wouldn't have tried it if it was my money.

You only have to look at Watford this season to see how it could have worked. We just got the wrong players.

And Fortune was by far the best one - it did of course work for him as he got his place back in the WBA team.

Worked for Diouf too, although I guess you could say he got his punishment for not keeping us up having to play for bindippers

It's easy to slag Willie and his mercenaries off but with Billy injured, Hayter leading the line, big Sam Hird at the back and a squad full of crocks we were never going to stay up anyway.

We'll have less of common sense like that. There are still blind folk on here that think we had a chance.

To be fair - and if you refer to my comments further up the thread, I said I wouldn't have tried it - until the collapse in the last four weeks we did.

Always very very unlikely though.

I meant some people still think we had a chance without trying it. The only chance we had WAS to try something. There was a point (Derby then Millwall at home) that we looked like we could do it. Lost them and down we went.

Oh yeah, can't disagree with you there. We were dead and buried before the season began really, Dunk just set the wheels in motion.
