Munich Dortmund final?
« on April 24, 2013, 09:32:24 pm by River Don »
It looks to be on the cards.

This a great development, I want to see the Bundesliga succeed.

You can keep the ridiculous Premier League with it's over priced tickets, it's tv deals, sponsorship and all the rest of it. You can keep la Liga with its boring two club system.

I want to see the Bundesliga succeed because it still cares about the match day fans.

Really good quality football too. Great entertainment before, during and after and you're well looked after on your day out to boot.

Er, I started a discussion about German football.

It is clearly superior, efficient, stronger, ein volk, ein Reich...

Sorry.

to be honest german football imo is the way ahead in my experience. clubs ran properly , grassroots sporting clubs with amazing facilites, fans treated like humans, cheap match tickets and excellent atmospheres . the irwt and other fan club partnerships are great and a step in the right direction but the germans have had it all for years. when i was over there i loved it

I've been lucky enough to watch BVB and Real at home in the last year or so. The experiences were like chalk and cheese.
Dortmund Schalke was the most incredible atmosphere I've experienced, whilst Madrid Levante was like going to watch a show, where everyone kept quiet and waited to be entertained.

Dortmund are as good as through. They're probably the only team in Europe who like to counter attack more than Real. They'll have plenty of opportunities to do that at the Bernabeu.

Unfortunately for Dortmund though, I suspect this season could be the last for this group of players. Gotze hs already signed for Bayern, I'd expect Lewandowski to follow, and Hummels will probably get snapped up by Barca. They'll also do very well to keep Klopp.

I was going to ask what Borussia means as its frequently used in the land of the Hun. I've took the liberty to look and found out its Latin for Prussia. Must be a regional thing then.

Wunderbar

I've had a sneeking suspicion that both Spanish 'giants' (who we dub the best teams in the world) were gonna get slaughtered this week, and like RD I'm really pleased it has happened. I've been a big fan of the Bundesliga and watched the highlights all season. I think it is the best league in the world both on and off the pitch. When compared to the Bundesliga the English clubs have defended their high spending and financial mismanagement by pointing out that German clubs are rarely successful in Europe. But when was the last time two different English teams dismantled the Spanish giants like we have witnessed in the last two days?

This may be BVB's last season with this famous group of players, but a Champions League Trophy will help them build a good team for next season.

Just imagine the atmosphere inside Wembley in a BVB vs Bayern. The whole ground will shake, the atmosphere tonight looked and sounded amazing, and that was 15000 under capacity due to UEFA regulations of the ground being transformed from standing to seating, it looks more immense in the Bundesliga with a full house!

Dortmund took the Borussia part from a local brewery.

Lets hope we don't have a clean sweep with Uwe Rösler

It looks like Bayern means Bavaria, at least according to t'interweb translation.

Using the German system then we'd be Yorkshire Doncaster.

Schalke is Rogues! Cool.

Ruhr I think is just the name of the region but I haven't run it through a translator.

Schalke is the name of a Borough in Gelsenkirchen - the home city of Schalke 04. I'm not sure it has a real translation.

Excellent. I'm loving this German lesson (I remember we did this with the Irish Rugby provinces).

What do we know about Bremen then. Big partisan team in Werder Bremen. Bombed to smithereens by the RAF. Big famous industrial German place

More interesting historically than most would think when reading the wiki site. Seems it's some sort of 'free state' within Germany.

£80 for a season ticket at Dortmund and free public transport to the game. Crowds of 80,000 per week. It appears Jerry is right on the money again?

Been a great week for the Bosch.

Time for DRFC to stand up for the humble Tommy

Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Rosler?
If you think you'll win the league,
We are the boys who will stop your little game.
We are the boys who will make you think again.
'Cus who do you think you are kidding Mr. Rosler?
If you think Rovers are done?

Brian Flynn goes out to win,
Although he's 3 foot 1,
And he comes home each evening,
And pesters Mrs Flynn with his veiny gun.

So, who do you think you are kidding Mr. Rosler?
If you think Rovers are done?

Don't panic! Come on Jonesy, lead the boys to victory and have our own VE day (Victory in Ealing!!)

I'm sure even more so now, the German 'model' will come under closer scrutiny. You wonder whether S_M, Gavin and Shaun will be considering a fact finding business trip in the very near future?? I Note SC Freiburg are a smaller club with similarities in population and funnily enough are considering having a new ground built on an old airport site?
