First time it's occurred to me but he could be scoring against us next season.

Would love him to sign on loan next year. Failing that the papers have suggested a price tag of 1.5 million - 300k less than we apparently sold him for. Bring him in for the season to keep us up and if we can't afford him, if he hits 20 goals, we'd be able to sell him for a lot more than 1.5m

Sharp isn't going to be staying at Soton that's for sure, his move to the South coast hasn't worked out, a move back North is certain, but where is the question. I think we should make a bid for him, I'm sure he would love to return to Rovers. He could be the difference between reaching and not reaching the Champs. Play offs.

Been another stop-start season for him again; with 3 different managers at the City Ground.

Wouldn't be surprised if Hull didn't have a nibble, if they could get him cut price....

I think the era of Rovers paying 1 million pound for a player has come to an end (for the foreseeable future).

You won't get him cheaper than that.

I think for different reasons Sharp has an emotional bond with us and Sheff U, not sure he would go to the Hullibees. Though stranger things have happened in football.

It's obviously just a figure of speech cocker.

It's not just transfer fees is it? It's agents fees and wages and all the rest of it. I don't think we will be spending the same amounts of money as we did at the time we bought Sharp. He's well out of our price range unless we do a miraculous loan deal.

I would love to get Billy back. It would be such a powerful message to the fans and other clubs that we mean business next year. I know he might be torn between us and Sheff Utd but I can't forget that moment when he put us two one up against Sheff Utd and we could sing 'We've only got 10 men'. I know there is lots of talk about footballers being mercenaries but there is something special about Donny Rovers.

He can't get in Forests first team. Why would Hull want him for the Premier League?

He couldn't get in sheff uniteds first team, why did we want him? Why did we want gillet, jones, furman, Hume, stock.
List is endless, the game is all about opinions, what one person believes about someone's ability has no influence at all on what another person believes about the same player.

Given that things didn't work out for Sharp in Soton suggests that he wants to be at a club for whom he has an affinity with, this includes Rovers. I wouldn't rule out him returning to Rovers, he has unfinished business with us. JR could already being in touch with his agent sounding out the possibilities.

The reason he wasnt a success at Sheff Utd was because they played hoof ball, hard to tell now with no manager in place but if went into our team now i dont think he would get that many goals for us.

Wasn't the original £1million pound fee some sort of loan/donation ?

When Bily played for us we were a one man scoring team, at least now we have goals spread throughout the team - admittedly it would be great to have him back - a lethal fox in the box is what we need.

Heart says yes, head says no. I'd rather we spend the money on an overall stronger, balanced team then blow most of our budget on 1 luxury player we can't afford.

He'll be on something like 20-25k a week there's no way we can afford even his wages never mind a transfer fee. I doubt very much that we'd get a loan deal where we'd pay wages in our wage structure.

But we can all dream of him being back where he belongs!

There is zero chance of Billy coming back, at least this side of 30. He is obviously (and justifiably) smarting after having his Premier League dream snatched away from him. He will be looking to get back at that level and playing for us in bottom reaches of the Championship is not going to be massively appetising for him. This aside of course from the fact this his wages (unless Southampton fancy giving him on loan with a 90% wage subsidy) are going to be way, way, way more than we can afford.
