Interesting betting changes!
« on May 16, 2013, 08:42:19 pm by LincsRover »
Now before everyone starts to groan because I know the bookies know little and are guessing at prices - responding to twitter rumours, people who know nothing having a speculative punt, even rumour from VSC; but I thought it was interesting that, for the first time since BF went upstairs, Paul Dickov is odds against (Oddschecker).

2/1 Dickov
2/1 Appleton
16/1 Craig Levein
20/1 Stuart McCall

25/1 and above the rest

It probably means nothing and may well be bookies trying to pinch some money by making punters think it's a contest? But.....I wonder if there's been a leak?? Time for a plumber???

Yep, as suspected it was Skybet hoping to liven things up - Dickov back to 4/7!

How could you have such a negative opinion about Michael Appleton?

I didn't think Appleton did himself any favours by leaving Blackpool after a matter of weeks to go to Blackburn. However, I'm sure he's learned a tough lesson this season and the next club he manages will be pretty sure he's in for the long haul.

He was very highly rated as a coach at West Brom and did a decent job in difficult circumstances at Portsmouth. I wouldn't have a problem with him as the manager if the board think he's the right man for the job.

Yes, I'm a bit confused about the negativity towards both Appleton and Dickov. OK they're not Mourinho or Guardiola but they're not Brian Laws or Chris Morgan either! So come on, give whoever our new manager ends up being a warm welcome and total support!!

JR will make the decision that is best for Rovers - we have to trust him and remember how many of us would have brought in SOD or Deano?? He has a good history of making good decisions!

Am I wrong again but I seem to remember been told out of the four only one was out of work at this time.
Surely this is why names are under wraps
Therefore mr dickov is obviously the one out of current management role
So why all tbe speculation on other out of work applicants
Put me out of my misery

Agree

I think the other names are being branded about just in case the one out of work isn't Dickov

Appleton & Dickov being interviewed today appartently. I reckon he could be a very good appointment, like has been said I'm sure he has learnt from jumping ship from Blackpool to Blackburn & he is very well thought of by people in the game. A big yes from me for MA.

Appleton and Dickov are both out of work at the minute and only one of the applicants are out of work so can't see that rumour about them two getting interviewed today been true.

I would just like to correct a statement I made earlier this week. Due to some late applications for the position at DRFC then the balance of those in work and out of work changed slightly, so don't be surprised if/when any announcements are made they don't stack up with that I posted.

The owners and CEO will select the manager they think is best for the club. If supporters are not happy with their selection, you can spit your dummy out or continue to support the club. Managers and players will come and go that is facts of life.

The deadline for applications was last Friday at 5pm, how late do they have to be to not be included in the original shortlist that was completed early this week?

And do we have more than 4 on the shortlist now, or have names been dropped from the original list?

How many being interviewed and who they are is irrelevant the decision will be made.

It was n`t so irrelevant last season when you did nothing but slag Saunders off, even though the decision had been made!

I, like others too am hoping that Michael Appleton is one of the ones being interviewed.  I'm sure he, like Dean Saunders will have learnt from past mistakes.  He'll get time here to build a good side fit for the Championship.

If it's gonna be Dickov I hope his gets his former colleague Paulo Wanchope as his assistant. They played together at Man City and it never ceased to amuse me listening to commentary when Wanchope passed to him.
