Elliot Ward
« on May 27, 2013, 11:09:26 am by mrfrostsdad »
Released by Norwich.
Played about 17 games for Forest when he went there on loan in January.

1) would we want him? (yes, IMO)
2) would he want to come?
3) could we afford his wages?

Personally, I think he would be a good addition. May not be good enough for the Prem but very experienced at this level and would do a job for us I think

I agree, he was one of the out of contract players that stood out to me and he's a realistic target.

No chance we'll get him.

Would have him back in a heart beat but I really can't see it.

He did indeed creating the chant ....'Elliott Ward scored a bloody great goal etc.....' One of the best I've seen in Rovers colours.
I would love him here if he is still fit but affordability would be an issue but we are going to have to spend some money if we're to make a fist of it next season !

Great over head kick for a defender it was.

This one?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3rboTeeu6w

Nah - poxy mis-kick with a lucky bounce off of the bar I think! Heehee!
:clapping:

Yeah if we could afford him and he was interested I'd have him back! I'd take Lee Camp without a second glance too!

Probably the best I've ever seen and as you said coming from a defender it made it even more sublime.

He might come a tad cheaper now DVR but I still doubt whether we could afford him sadly :(

Strong.

Were you there that night Adam? This was a typical Sharp performance, always hassling their defence and scoring too.

That has to be one of the best performances I've seen us put in for several years. Although Wednesday had a few scoring chances in the first 15 minutes, the way we were playing there was only ever going to be one winner.

Our passing game was at its best that night.

Have to agree with you he was strong but so were the rest of the team against the Wendies. Adam , unfortunately for him, cannot have been there.

Yes I was there, but you can see from the clip is just great footwork, not strength. The original post says how strong he was from the goal, not the whole game. Not sure how you can be so confident to judge that I wasn't at the game because of my opinion.

My initial post was a bit of a joke anyway, if you look at it from Weds point of view, it is terrible defending.

1) YES!!!
2) I can't see us being the most attractive offer he'll receive, unfortunately.
3) Doubtful, unless he prices himself out of a move and is still looking for a club by the start of the season.

I didn't say you weren't there, just asked if you were. Part of Sharp's "strength" is his footwork, is it not?

Apologies, Hoola said that I "cannot have been there". I suppose he shrugged off Gray to win the ball, but O'Connor just fell over when Sharp was on the ball.

Surprised. And disappointed.
He would have been a good signing. Can't see how Bournemouth will have more money to spend than us on salaries than us. Can't remember what their average crowds were this season, but as the ground only has 3 sides I doubt they will increase that much next season.

Oh well. Move on and hopefully get someone else in

A wealthy backer with some dodgy sponsorship deal to increase turnover perhaps?

Or just more likely to gamble financially? Not to mention we may not have wanted him?

Still can only spend so much of their turnover on wages.

I believe that there has been some *cough* creative sponsorship, and the 6K+ season ticket sales won't be hurting them any.

I understand that they are adding a temporary stand for the start of the season, which will add nearly 3K to their capacity... It's not inconceivable that their gates will be quite a bit better than ours next season.

With 6k to our 3.5k, they'll probably sell out most games.
