Matchday Banners - inside the stadium
« on October 30, 2013, 10:25:26 am by big fat yorkshire pudding »
Something I'm looking into and doing a little bit with the guys down at Rovers (which I'll be pushing on with much more in the next couple of months hopefully), is the inside of the stadium in the stands and the look of it a little with regards to fan orientated banners.

Hopefully there will be some more to come on that in the next few weeks.

However, for the first thing, I'd be interested to see if fans could knock up some catchy (unoffensive) banners home-made and perhaps bring them down to the Brighton game on Saturday.  The club have engaged with some of the local schools and alongside the kids' promotions going on at the weekend, hopefully a few of them will be embracing the idea and bringing a few of theirs down.

Ideally these would be simple things, with perhaps catchy slogans on them, nothing complicated and it is easy to make them out of a simple old bed/dust sheet and a bit of spray paint or marker pen....

I'll be meeting down at the stadium in the next week or so to discuss if we can potentially look into some permanent stuff, but it's something that make the stadium feel that bit more like a football stadium, so if anyone's interested it'd be something quite good.  My belief is that we as fans should be leading this and we don't really have enough flags, banners brought in on matchdays etc, yet manage quite well away from home.

For those who can embrace this (it's a very quick thing to do, 10 minute job - get your kids on it during half term), we'll be looking to take some pictures for potential use in the programme, website in future.

I'm sure the witty among you can come up with some catchy stuff.  In future we're looking to perhaps get some more professional stuff done, but as that's not been fully looked into logistically, we can't really touch on that as yet, as I'd rather hit it in one go, but it's something that is an aim and should look pretty good if we can get it done, though there's a few things to overcome on that front first.

An example would be a long banner with something like this;

#justapubteam

TLODonnyRovers

Here's one the Ipswich fans put together for their trip to Scunthorpe a couple of years ago during the Keep Scunthorpe Standing campaign, although this is still a little on the big side. And another that was done for the Twenty's Plenty campaign recently;

How about a shrine to the great marcello trotta with the number 95 plastered all over it

Not one for banners usually, but something like this (obviously on a smaller scale) with This Is Donny and the viking symbol behind it would look pretty good.

We'll look into bigger ones in the future cut it'd be awesome if people could just knock up there own and bring to a few games.

The bigger ones will come later and there are lots of potential ideas for that both in terms of styles and where to put them etc.  But can we get some small home made ones first.

Bang in the middles of the South Stand should be a banner reading:

WELCOME TO
THE LIKES OF DONCASTER

Exactly like that. Simple stuff. If anyone has chance to crack anything like this together quite quickly it would be great to get as many as we can done?

'You should be beating the likes of Doncaster Rovers'
I think we should use the clubs full name, it annoys me greatly when lazy journos refer to us an just doncaster - we are Doncaster ROVERS! .

My mate made this famous (amongst Scousers) flag. He's got others, maybe we could commission him?

With a but of planning and co-ordination, we could may be do a mosaic with A3 sized coloured paper. Could be one for the kids in the family stand?

I'm actually imagining this on a larger scale in the away end concourse/entrance.

... And the away changing room :thumbsup:

The guy in the Banner,is he someone people know or is it just a random fan.He looks like a Rovers regular I used to see at belle vue,often leaning on the pitchside wall,when I was a young'un in the late 70's early 80's.Is it him?

Yeah thats who I thought it was,I did'nt want to look stupid if it was'nt him.The fact he stood at the Tunnels,he was often on Photos in the press/program etc.I can see why the fanzine use the image,very Iconic of the 70s,80s+90s belle vue.  :scarf:

Just recently seen the light projections on Building in York got me thinking. In the Dark of winter matches, we could introduce a whole new level of entertainment inside and outside the stadium to wow the audience.

Obviously not as elaborate as this, but I think you get the idea. Can you imagine what could be projected on to the stands.

You'd think the makers would supply us with a supersize replica to help promote sales. Hint hint.

Nothing.  We have still got it.  It was on the pitch ahead of the Leicester game
