Maybe he has realised that the grass isn't always greener?

Fingers crossed he's staying. Regardless of what happened off the pitch. PQ has always been and always will be 100% committed on the pitch. Would add some invaluble experience to the back line

It would be unlikely that PD would put a timescale on Quinn negotiating with another club so I can only imagine he is signing on with us.

But he doesn't need to sign anything with us, he's already under contract...

This should have been sorted a month ago.

That's easy to say Gaz... I'm sure the club would have loved it sorted one way of the other.

I hope this doesn't mean the departure of Wabara (or Keegan), we need them all

I'd like to see him stay but with an apology if he does for again being late at the start of the pre season period and secondly for looking to leave for the second year in a row.  If he doesn't commit they should mutually part company IMO.  Not that easy in practice though.

I hope he is going elsewhere. We were his last resort last season and it seems again this. If we keep him on it makes us look week as a club and that players can do exactly as they like and then just play again when they have explored all their options. If your going to leave then do it, don't bite the hand that feeds twice!

The way I see it is that he signed a contract openly knowing he would receive reduced wages if we were relegated, we were he has but obviously wanted more, triggered his release cause but no one has shown the slightest interest in him. Now some argue the club should have offered him a bit more but being held to ransom would mean other players wanting more and the club ending up offering longer larger contracts to players no other club appears to want, we have had zero enquiries about our contracted players, why is this? Are they no good? Or are they on more than some believe making them unattractive/unaffordable for other clubs? If he stays then fine, if he goes I wouldn't lose sleep either.

Quinn training with the kids and Wellens with the first team. That says a lot.

Wellens should be with the youth team as well for me. How can dickov just forget his interview where he slagged off everything to with drfc that's as bad as Quinn for me

I'm not sure he did slag us off. He just said it how it is. If that's a crime then so be it.

Shouldn't be said about your employers though. I think he expected a club to snap him up pretty much days later. His age, wage demands and injury records go against him

"Sorted within 24 hours" sounds to me as though he's off. Otherwise, it's already sorted...

Wellens - who knows? Surprised he hasn't already been snapped up... That said, I would rather we were getting in younger, cheaper players to bolster up the squad. We need to be looking to the future and, with the greatest of respect to RW, Richie's best days are almost certainly behind him.

The way I interpreted that was that he's got himself lined up for a deal elsewhere.

Giddings implied as much and PD did not deny it. Plus if Quinn has been training with the youth team I'm guessing he won't like it and want to go elsewhere.

I'd be intreagued to know that if Quinn did go, could we offer Wellens a better deal to try and entice him to stay??????

Here Bentley, this is it. It's fairly damning: https://audioboo.fm/boos/2345967-richie-wellens-on-drfc-future

I think if we accept that we're not going to be challenging for promotion then we shouldn't be trying to keep players like RW - I don't think it'll do us or him any favours. We need bodies and we need cheaper players to build for the future, IMHO.

Aye. He told it like it is. Thing is, that team full of kids played the favourites for automatic promotion off the park on Tuesday night.

Wellens could have been part of that. But Wellens seems more interested in his wallet and his opinions than in actually playing. So f**k him.

Come on William, you know football as much as anyone on here, we haven't got a squad that will be challenging at the top over the course of a long season have we. That's all Wellens said. That and the fact he hasn't got long left and wants to play in the championship again and that the wages he is on after the cut is not the going rate for a player with his ability and experience.

He sounded like he genuinely wanted to get onto the coaching side of things with us, and I'm sure he would have been a real asset.

In Wellens' defence I think he did say that the kids wouldn't be able to step up to the plate every week, indicating (to me) that their age meant they weren't yet physically mature enough.
