It always seems such a pointless thing to ask, both ways, how many tickets have we sold for xxxxx or how many tickets have xxxx sold for KMS. What the feck difference does it make in reality. Folk will buy tickets if they want to see the game at Scunny, if not they wont.

I've been for mine this morning, we'd sold 300 to the end of last week so there will be more than enough for anyone who wants to go  :)

And there, in a nutshell, is this forum encapsulated. Someone asks a question, a question with no malicious intent.

First reply - an unrelated dig.
Second reply - an unrelated, unnecessary dig at someone else who had nothing to do with this thread
Third reply - a criticism from someone who we later find is having a bad day and uses that to criticise the person for asking their perfectly-reasonable question
Then we get replies criticising the third reply.
Finally by reply 9, the OP gets the simple answer to a simple question.

Why is there so often a slanging match? Why do people take angst from one thread and poor it into others that are unrelated?

Can we just start from a position that we assume we are all DRFC a supporters and either help each other, or say nothing? Please? Pwetty pwease??!

EiW,

Rightly or wrongly I assumed the question was from someone who MIGHT have been a "Gloater" ( Either at the fact DRFC had sold their quota, or alternatively not sold many at all). Hence my original answer.

you can't say these posts that are digs represent the forum? do all the unneccesary digs and childish name calling over on the facebook group represent the 5000+ members?

Let's hope we don't now have a change of form and finish these off decisively RTID ;)
Caveat here being (as a Fulham lover) that both teams come out of this with something positive.

All valid points there fella and i will Throw This into the pot

For all the wrongs Of the ddr seen on Here by many ,i go all in
With my poker chips that no ddr member that i know Of would
Ever diss respect or talk down to any rovers fan in Such a way .

They would go out Of there way to Help out normall rovers fans.

Like at bournemouth away in that facup game When rovers
Were in conference.

There must have Been about 20 rovers fans half ddr rest normalls
Who got Nicked after rovers scored.

Loads Of rovers ran onto touchline as emotions got better Of us all.

The Police When walking everyone back to holding cells under Their main
Stand noticed they did not have enough room for all 20 fans to process all at once.

Some normall rovers fans grown up men were in tears When Been Frog
Marched with hands held behind Their backs by Police.

All the ddr lads were saying to Police what you Nicked him for and him
As they did nowt etc etc etc .

A couple Of normall fans were released there and then .some normalls
Were prosessed but it was only the 12 ddr lads that were bailed to return
To court at later date, not one normall fan was up in court for doing exact
Same offence as few ddr did.

Craigy, it was an analogy, Oslo is explaining how people pulled in the same direction back then and looked out for those less able to look out for themselves. Obviously that was in the face to face days - not the virtual world of the internet.

There's is no mileage to be gained by any of us in labelling those who partook in football violence in those days - its in the past and we cant undo the past, but it doesn't mean we can't refer to it.

Nor recognise its positives as well as its negatives. And, Craigy, accept that people change, grow, learn. Oslo was helping, teaching all of us. Wonder what you'd do if you bumped into him one night?

Are we playing them tomorrow or summat ! There's plenty of time for us to sell out for the SKitsons we usually do and I doubt this time it will be an exception to the rule.
BTW I understand exactly the point that Oslo was trying to make with his analogy.
Time to REALLY stick together and behind the club, manager and team.........success is more likely to follow.
Ossie you should have been around in the 70's ....you would have really loved that decade ;)

What a stupid thing to say Bob. On the one had you are extolling the "We've changed" diatribe, then on the other you imply Oslo would frighten me at night time. Get a grip. The only thing to come out of football thugs (and let's face it, most of them never laid a fist on another man) was the overwhelming evidence that they are morons. Disagree?

for the record i would never put a squeeze on craigboy or any like minded
rovers fan on whatever dark night or  any day time, but i would be more Than happy to watch Their backs if needs be.it dont stress or worry what they think about ddrs antics as i dont blame them tbh ,but we would
Be straight in if saw him or them in a difficult situation.

hereford away and Chester away back in conference days spring to mind and a game at darlington in division 4 where ddr have Stepped forward
To divert issues approaching normal rovers fans .

Would not sleep at night if i saw rovers normall fans comming unstuck
And we could have done something to help out.

Recall one away game in conference When  all ddr went on a coach .
We walked into a pub which had a few rovers fans in and there was
a van load Of normall rovers fans who were all half way to Been pissed .

After game Their van driver got Nicked by Police and taken away for
Whatever offence .

So we gave the 10 Of so rovers fans a Choice

A.....you can Stay and wait for van driver to be released which could take hrs if not longer.must point out van driver had the van Keys or the Police Now did,and rest Of van were all  far too drunk fortone of them to drive back.

B.....you can comeback with us on our coach ,and be back in pubcaster
Within a reasonable time.

They all Choose the later

I think I remember that game, Oslo.  Maybe 1990ish?  I seem to recall it was a bit foggy up in the north east and even though the Darlo game went ahead, the Newcastle match was postponed, so all these Mags came down and caused havok.  That little cobbled alleyway was a warzone after the game.

I also remember the DDR lads stepping in at Lincoln a year or two later when their lads were clouting any Rovers fan they could get to.

The attitude of people like "Craigyboy" is typical of folk who have never been to an away match with Rovers. If you were getting a shoeing from some home fans then you wouldn't be complaining if some more accomplished lads stepped in to assist.
