Neil Redfearn, he can work with the youth and has links to the Club, wouldn't need to move either, I know he didn't want the Leeds job but who would with the maniac they have.

I don't look at individuals but qualities, we need;

+ tactical nous (a displayed ability to develop different systems and adapt during a game)
+ knowledge of players within and contacts at football league (and prem for loanees) level.
+ A small smattering of ego/confidence/self-determination
+ Ability (and willingness - alot arn't) to develop young talent.
+ Acceptance of the financial limitations of the club.

Someone like Nigel Pearson is the archetypal manager IMO. Things that don't concern me include media persona and 'man' management. Would be a bonus if the guy had nice hair.

It's a very fair point tbf, if he goes he needs replacing.

We were discussing this last night and couldn't think of many either.  We came up with these, probably forgot a few;

Paul Cook - Done a great job at Chesterfield and they were good to watch against us.

Dean Saunders - Poor at Wolves and for us in the 'experiment' but great results in league 1.  Questions over how he left and his style.

Lee Johnson - Much smaller budget at Oldham and has them just outside the play offs.  Also turned Forte in to a good player.

Gary Johnson - Did brilliantly with Yeovil, but doesn't really like us.

Brian Mcdermott - Without a job but hard to get I would have thought.

Billy Mckinlay - Clearly fancies being a manager, would be a bit left field after his Watford exit.

Phil Neville - Wants a job, could be a good start for him, gamble.

Phil Brown - In and out career, has DP as assistant too.

Billy Davies - Bit of a nearly man, would probably see it beneath him coming to us.

Mark Robins - Now gone to Scunny, would he leave them so soon, is he actually any good?

Lee Clark - Again probably not the best manager in the world IMO.

Gareth Ainsworth - Got Wycombe firing at the top, but why would he leave there?

Gary Rowett - Again a good job at Burton, in frame for Birmingham job though.

Glenn Hoddle - Still wants to be a manager, perhaps past it now?

Iain Dowie - Well, his name came up.

Brian Flynn - In the end has won this league, though having not since left it is unlikely.

Paul Ince - Poor manager IMO, but always after a job.

Rob Jones - Wants to be a manager, but too soon?

Alex Neil - Doing well with Hamilton, but would he leave them and does he know enough about English football?

Dean Smith - Decent job at Walsall with no money.

David Moyes - A silly one

Feel free to add more, it's a tough one.

I think we need someone with a connection to the club. Someone who's heart rules his head and is Donny through and through. Someone who says 'we', 'us' or 'Rovers'...........NOT someone who says 'Doncaster'.

Mind you we need a boardroom full of people like that too.

I wouldn't want Rob Jones, we need someone with good managerial experience right now.

I would have been happy with Saunders if this had been at the start of pre season and he had the chance to build his own team. Deano aint very good at joining a team near the bottom is he?

My choice would be Tony Mowbray, hes got a great deal of eperience and HAS got a proven track record at more then one club. He did an interview a few days ago in which he said he was ready for a return to management

Because in his "Managerial" career he has a win % of 25, and a loss % of 42% Not a lot different from now.

Neil Redfearn would be my shout.

And if we hang on a bit we could maybe see Nigel Adkins being made available!

If we're talking win % we could do worse than Brian Flynn. He had 50% win rate with us.

We may of won the league under Brian Flynn but he was a shocking manager.. Mk Dons away was the worst performance of the season and had there been a half decent side in the league that year we'd of got play offs at best.

Dean Smith is pretty much a carbon copy of SOD. If anyone wants that again.
