But it's a new ground that we're never likely to visit ever again. I would walk the 400 miles over broken glass rather than miss it...

I was told by club officials last season that when we play away, we normally only sell about 30% of the allocation to STH. So far WSM have sold 2300. With a capacity of 3500 it should be close to full.

It is a long way, having a tie at a nearby club would get a bigger following?

I get fed up with people calling our attendance shite.  It is realistic, period.

I agree IDM so far 300 is a realistic number to be taking on a long journey. However many we take as long as they get behind the team then I will be happy. Me and Mrs Lincoln Rover will be there. Mind you selling WSM in November to the good lady was akin to making Lord Sugar smile in the board room. RTID

They are in the Conference South, two divisions below the football league, and three below us in League 1.

Does it really matter given that they didn't sell out to season tickets?

I don't know why people get so obsessed about how many tickets we have sold to away games... personally speaking, I don't think that it is a disgrace that we have only sold 300. It is a fair distance, and not exactly a glamour tie... not everyone is interested in ticking grounds off their list throughout the lower leagues so I don't imagine that factor will add many on to the numbers.

I would rather commend those who do go for their excellent support rather than berate those who CHOSE not to go.

Just bought 4 tickets and was told nearly sold half now. It's not like their "away end" will make us look poor! And if you are going, take a nice set of water proofs, unless you're wise and got a seat

So true, what is with this obsession with ticket sales and away followings? I see it with pretty much every club around the internet, but I never think about how good our away following is or not when I go to games. I'll be there on Saturday and along with whomever else is with us in that away end we will all cheer on the Rovers. All that matters really is that the team has support, and it does.

Jenny on this one I tend  to disagree. I take your point about teams that have the biggest following,  blah blah blah. I have always looked at attendances since a kid, a few years ago now I agree, it's just nice to see how many we have/ are  taking away.
Personally I think it's a bit like being a statto. It bothers no one, it hurts no one and  like to estimate what crowds will be. I don't really see what the problem is.
Unlike other local teams who claim to be M, my team isn't. We are generally a small hard working bunch of fans loyal to the team we adore. On this occasion I don't support an M  club I support th best club. DRFC.

I can't see the harm in it Lincoln but Jenny gets involved in ' Dick waving' for some reason ;)

I didn't make any point about teams that have the biggest following, but fair enough if that is what you read into it...

I think there is a difference between taking an interest in attendances and being a statto to constantly banging on about it and berating the support for being crap. Each to their own I guess.

I'm with Jenny on this one. Like she said, there's a difference between asking the question and showing a general interest, and commenting how crap it is and berating others for not going.

Used to frustrate me when JR used to throw general criticism about attendances rather than praising those who turned out in all weathers etc. At times i'm sure we're disappointed with attendances but aiming non specific criticism won't improve matters. If we end up with 450 plus that's a good show. I hear the train fares are very expensive.
