Would have him back here in the blink of an eye.
But I guess that calibre of player is a thing o the past for us these days.
Have a happy new year lads n lasses.

After last year I'd not have him back, he's not the same player anymore.

This is just my opinion but, a half fit, half arsed billy sharp would still score more goals for us than Tyson n Robinson combined.
But that is just my take on the current front players .

A half fit, half arsed Billy Sharp scored 4 in 12 last season for us, Nathan Tyson has scored 4 in 10 ;)

Tyson has scored 6 this season.  The BBC webpage for DRFC shows he has 5, but they haven't counted his penalty in he JPT at Burton.

Realising he isn't as good as he tohoughtvhe was when he was at Saints has taken the edge off him. Not the player he was.

We went to the top of the form league during his spell with us.

Dumb roofer.

In March and April last year, there was no goal scoring from him and nothing else to his game whatsoever. It was bordering on embarrassing to watch. I don't know what's happened to him but he's a shadow of the player he was 3-4 years ago.

Agree with the lack of goals, 1 in 3 ain't good enough.
But the service he got was shocking to the point of , what's the point in making runs that are either ,a not seen or b, ignored.
Don't you think he would get a bag full in this team in this division?

BST, I'm assuming you meant March and April THIS year. In March this year Sharp scored 3 of the teams 7 goals that month.

He doesn't look hungry for the game any more... it seems to happen to a lot of players when they over-reach, come unstuck and are not the same on the slide back down.

In that case I'd question his commitment

Sharp great player for us and at 28 still has the potential to go again.

According to our resident football experts Sharp was shit, now is shit, SOD was a bad manager, copps terrible player etc etc. It never stops, happy new year.

Out of interest what are you comparing with or targeting when you say 1 in 3 isn't good enough? We haven't had many 15-goal-a-season strikers on the books in recent years.

You're right. I'm wrong. Didn't check the facts before I posted.

What I was alluding to was the final 10 matches of the season, when the chips were down  he managed 1 goal in those 10 games and barely broke sweat in most of the matches. For most of his spell with us last season he looked a shadow of the player he used to be, but his performances in those last 10 games were shocking.

It will never happen, JR has gone, SOD has gone and many more, the whole desire/passion to have him here from within has gone. It is a worthy debate and an interesting read but rate him or not he won't be back here under the current regime

He didn't even touch the one at Blackpool and I'm sure his second was dubious as well from memory.

We only managed 7 goals in the last 10 games anyway, and Sharp scored one of them! Chris Brown got 3. How many of them did Sharp's presence create for Brown, or any of the 3 other scorers for that matter?  He was marked by 2 defenders (at least) when he played which suggests to me that opposition teams treated him with a lot of respect.......Certainly more than you give him credit for.

I know who's opinion of him I believe!

Yes but if you watched the game properly you would have seen that non of his team mates had the skill to pass to him!
Guess you had been on the booze!

I don't know which of those last 10 games you were watching, but you're memory is well out of order if you think teams were doubling up on him. They weren't. They didn't need to do because he wasn't remotely the threat that your memory wants him to be.

If I chose to agree with your opinion over mine then I would concede that I am wrong and you are right......But I don't think you are. I think I am. I could agree with you to keep the peace, but what would be the point of us both being wrong?

Let's just leave it at that and beg to differ. People will get board!

Happy new year, by the way. I hope you and your football team have a happy and prosperous new year.
