He has the ability to be a great player and has shown that on rare occasions. There's two problems I can see, maybe they are linked. It's more than a simple confidence problem, and I'm concerned that our backroom staff haven't addressed it yet.One is the serious lack of strength of his shooting and crossing. it's like he's forgotten how to wrap his foot round the ball. The other problem is how frequently he is slow off the mark. Lack of anticipation, or just a little spaced out or lost?Putting both of these together, it's like he's lost his spark, he's not connected with his part in the game. IMHO, this is a job for a sports psychologist, and not for waiting for a "lucky break" to boost his confidence.
I think the technique in his shooting can be improved but isn't anticipation just natural ability that differentiates average players from good players?
Please dont bother us on here with your opinion go to Curtis himself and tell him your opinions of him to his face. Dont forget though he is a big fit lad and just might show you just what a little shit you are. The boy has brought two world class saves out of two very good keepers in the last two weeks ,but his luck will change ,and if it does I suppose you will think the sun is shining out of his arse.
However vs Notts Co, Main did get into great positions and was thwarted by good defending - perhaps with one of the efforts Main could have done better but they were all on target and all blocked. In fact, some folks on here noted that Main got himself in positions to attack the ball, compared to Theo.Main will come good - the only way to do that is to play. Main needs a goal badly though.
