Time to congratulate the Board
« on April 12, 2015, 11:39:33 am by Lifelong supporter »

As one who has been unsure what direction the club is going in under the current ownership I think it's only fair to praise them for their support of the manager.
The easiest thing for directors when things go wrong is to lump all the blame on the boss and get rid.
We see it at most clubs and it's been a tried and trusted policy which has miserably failed here in the past.
I welcome the statement by the CEO in the last programme which said 'Paul has some exciting plans and a vision for the playing staff next season and the board are fully supportive of this."
That should put to an end to all the speculation about PD's future.
He's going nowhere whether you like it or not.
It shows the owners are decent and intelligent people who recognise that Dickov has not had chance to prove himself one way or the other because of all the takeover uncertainty that has preceded the last two seasons.
People have said it didn't disrupt things too much, which is clearly nonsense.
I'll judge Dickov on what he does when he has a clear run at it, a trouble free pre-season and when he receives a reasonable budget he knows he has to work to well in advance and not just days before the season starts.
It seems the owners are prepared to do that too.
Good on them.

Totally agree with your points. There are far too many hot heads on here. It's not the manager we need to look at but maybe ourselves as supporters. I have been a supporter since the early '60s and there's always been too many negative jeerers! I enjoy going to away games as the support is totally different. No wonder the players produce results on the road.

What a way to attempt to shoot down any reasoned debate.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the post and absolutely everything wrong with yours.

correct me if I'm wrong? but did the board say attendances of 600 would see us break even,if copps post on attendances are right we should achieve that surely, may be just may be if I'm right about them figures the board might free up more cash for pd to work with? If that happens then I'll congratulate the board

Of course he's fishing. This is the very same poster who gave out all the misinformation surrounding the last takeover.

Cramby10, why is it that everytime somebody puts forward a case to support the manager with a debate based on reason, you shout it down as 'fishing for a bite'. Ok you don't like PD. You made it clear last night. Don't see why others can't have a difference of opinion!

You don't honestly believe that drivel do you? I have 'exciting plans' to become a millionaire. I doubt its gonna happen! Like he's gonna say anything different. He's certainly got the gift of the gab. Been fooling people for years. But not now. I'm glad to see the vast majority are seeing through his bullshit. Only the directors to convince now? Then we have have our club back and people can start to look forward to match days again!
Dickov hasnt had enough time to prove himself? He's had 5 seasons as a professional manager. And failed in every single one of them!

Agreed. Because the Board at the time wouldn't accept SODs suggestion of relegation and a period of rebuilding. That's exactly where we are but I know who I'd rather have in charge.

I also don't buy this 'Dickov hasn't had a proper pre-season' argument. Can anyone remember the pre-season Saunders had?
I just wonder how much time the Board give Dickov? Christmas? All next season?
I don't think we can afford another season with such poor home performances - it doesn't inspire people to attend (case in point yesterday's attendance of under 6000). It's all well and good performing away from home, but that doesn't boost the home crowds - which is where the club will generate more income.
I wasn't convinced by Dickov's appointment at the time and I'm still to be convinced 2 seasons on. If he's available & we could persuade him to come, I'd much prefer someone like Nigel Adkins in the hot seat.
But I accept it's all about different perceptions and opinions.

The board has done it's job supporting the manager, unfortunately we are at the minute short of where the squads quality should be.

The problem is that the last attendance was below 6000 but this includes all season ticket holders, even though many have not been attending recent games.

Season ticket sales will drop for next season, thus attendances will drop, and downward spiral because budget will drop.

Unlikely we will hold onto Bennett (best player so far in recent games), Wellens year older so slower than this season, Copps more susceptible to injuries.
Unlikely to attract any of the players being out of contract at higher league clubs, due to lower budget.

Hopefully the PD supporters may wake up to the reality at some point

2008 in League One our midfield was Stock, Wellens, Copps and Green.

2015 and we are worried about keeping Bennett.

I agree he's inconsistent, but he's still very young and on his day he's unplayable
