Redfern is unemployed. He just spends his time watching us play, all due diligence done already.

It seems the right fit for me too. Anything but Paul.

Redfearn would be a good call, would get our team playing good football and has tactical nous that PD lacks.

My loathing for Colin has been superceded by that for Steve Cotterill.

35.71 win % with Wednesday. An average team in a strong league. He's a very strong candidate, a lot stronger than Redfern infact.

How much would he cost the club in salary compared to Redfearn? Wouldn't he command a higher fee?

The fee doesn't matter as long as we get value for money.

Wouldn't the club have a salary ceiling for the manager which they wouldn't break. Getting rid of BH suggests there isn't a load of money in the coffers to bring in a proven manager who would command a high salary.

Probably Les but that wasn't what I meant.  We may need to pay the going rate for someone who can make us competitive.

Agree, but would the Board be able to pay the going rate?

Do they have a choice?

As the saying goes, you pay peanuts so you get monkeys!

IDM, I agree with you. I hope the Board would bring in an experienced manager. JR went with the cheap choice in bringing in PD, and look where it has got us. Just worried that the Board will play it safe and bring in a cheap option of an unproven manager and history will repeat itself.

We'll all know what the board think with their next appointment. Experienced managers cost more than peanuts, so it's over to them. Hopefully sooner than later.

Based on what? There's nothing to show that he will or wont be a good manager...

Exactly, a leap into the dark based on his captaincy. Is that what we are wanting?

A leap in the dark! So you're suggesting in his time at the club he's gained no knowledge about the squad, or in his time managing the youth squad he's gained no managerial skills, or he hasn't displayed clear leadership qualities? Give over.

Neil Redfearn's name has popped up on here because of the hive-mind. Someone pointed out he was at a few games and now everyone is saying his name. Does anyone have any clear knowledge about his managerial credentials? Doubt it. That is a leap into the dark.

Worked when we brought in Dave Penney, why should it not work this time?

It's worked at countless others clubs as well but everyone automatically thinks you need to go for a manager with a 'name'. It's tosh.

 :that:

Agreed wholeheartedly! I've supported PD through thick and thin and thought (maybe with more hope than expectation) that he would improve. I like the bloke having had good conversations with him at Rosso pre-season in his first season and at the KM this season but I'm afraid I have now lost the faith. So disappointing after pre-season as I was quite excited with some performances (Sunderland & wolves esp) but back to the inconsistency of last season! Frustrated to say the least.

It's worked at clubs and failed at clubs, I think we need experience now
