Don't think it's either.
In fact don't think anyone has named the club yet.
Askern welfare or Armthorpe?

Is anyone else a little concerned that we're going to have very little time to sort out a replacement?

Yes Party Politics again.. Dickov to give him
One

Chance

All is forgiven.

For me he was done when he bottled it with a suspect bruised toe, last match of season at Leicester in Championship.

But that is just me, some others who usually post are sitting in the wings on this one. GET RID

Surely not Oldham. He left them under a bit of a cloud, didn't he? Won't be Wigan either.

Not really, as apparently there is a player being lined up.  PD wants the Wellens situated sorted today, so he can conclude the replacement tomorrow.

The problem is now, if it doesn't happen today we have a player that doesn't want to be here, so he'll be unmotivated, a lot of fans have now turned against him, he's just taking up a squad place and probably would be a negative influence in the dressing room

From what we have been told, Wellens has been approached by another club - so "officially" he hasn't been wanting away nor has the club wanted rid of him.

So if he stays, surely that is no problem?

The people who don't like Wellens will see the negative with the situation.

We do not have a better central midfield player who as his creativity even though he is not at his best.

So let's see what happens, we have needed better last year and from the start of the season but we have not got that player let's hope it is resolved.

I think Wellens is after one more big pay day before he retires. Who can blame him. We would all do the same if in his position. He has a mortgage and family like the rest of us. Opportunity knocks, he's not going to turn it down. If it's win win for player and club then it's a good move.

It won't be a big payday at his age now.

It must be a big enough signing on fee for him to want to move.

Yet when we pay a signing on fee people still claim we've spent nothing on players.

I think most people know that players demand signing on fees once the Bosman rule came in.

Who says he doesn't want to be here?
And why would he be unmotivated if he wants a move?
The only way he would get one if he didn't go now is to keep playing well.

Midnight, I would think, like most other people.

He would have a lot more chance if he actually started playing well!!!

If selected by the manager I have no problem Richie playing he is our player.

You can say that about all the central midfield players. Our midfield used to be the best part of the team it is now the worst. That's why we are hitting it long.

I don't think so, if it's in championship and nearer his home, I don't think it'll be anything to do with money

Richie got injured in the 2-1 win at Leeds and didnt start ANY of those last seven games.
It wasn't just the Leicester game.
It shows what a big player he was for us that we only got one point in those seven games.

Lincoln, if he is still with us I would be very happy for him to play against Burton.
He is still a very good player and especially at our level.

I would, he is employed by the club, & is the best we have in that position.

Hound

Wellens started the Bolton match. We were given the run-around for 35 mins before Dickov took Wellens off. That was the third worst decision that Dickov made in that run-in.

The second worst was putting Wellens on after Reading equalised in the penultimate match. I was screaming at Dickov to park the bus and grit out a draw. He went balls out for the win. We lost. Wellens (still injured I hope) covered less ground than Akinfenwa in front of a table full of snap.

The worsted decision was convincing himself that we had to win one of those final 7 games when, as I was posting with increasing exasperation, a couple of draws would have been enough. We threw away potential draws against Bolton and Reading by playing Wellens. Daft, daft, daft.

Fair enough BST, I had forgotten about the Bolton start.
However if I rephrase it "Wellens didn't feature much in those last seven games in which we got only one point" then it proves what a big player he was for u then I guess it gives my viewpoint credence.

Billy Richie was not fit when Dickov chose to start him against Bolton. In fact he was limping in the warm up the problem is We did not and do not have another player who can play like Richie.

Dickov took a risk against Bolton and against Reading when Richie should not have played.

He is not the player he was, but neither is our midfield good at pressing but creativity and pace is non existent.

Damn you BST! You've brought up the relegation CShip run in again.
There'll be other daft things happen but in the history of DRFC but that last 6 weeks of that campaign still beggars belief. Anyone with even CSE grade 3 maths (mid 70's kids..) would have known how little we needed to stay up.
I put it down to bravado and a bit of small man bluster.
