Billy Sharp looked a pale shadow of what he used to be until he was given a goal on a plate by a stupid mistake. Any L1 striker would have scored that goal. Until that moment, he had created nothing, won no physical battles and no looked remotely like the player he was for us 5 years ago. He looked like a moderately able L1 player going through the motions.

On the other hand - What odds against Williams finally scoring his first league goal for us on Tuesday?

DU

Williams concerns me.

Yes we are getting little service to him, but good Lord, I expect a little more from a highly-rated centre-forward. In the two games I've seen him (today and Walsall) he hasn't looked like winning a physical challenge on the front line.

Didn't he used to run the channels at Swindon rather than playing as a target man? I seem to recall they had a chap who played through a lot of decent balls for him to run onto. A bit like Oster or Stock used to do for Sharp.

Of course if we had anyone in midfield who could pass the ball...

So, Billy Sharp is crap and he's scored six games in the run, plus at least four assists in that time as well.
Ok. All our strikers must be World beaters then

Yet he's still managed to score more league goals than Doncaster Rovers this season.

That's not exactly what he said though, is it...

He only commented on today's performance. But let's not let that get in the way.

Aye, and for all those wanting Copps to play RB, this is exactly the reason why he should never play RB, we need a specialist RB! Why won't these supposed football people address this issue?

Exactly that , 3 weeks at the helm and RJ is still fitting square pegs in round holes.
He blames the players but he ain't helping his own cause.

Backed by a board who although put money into the club, have no idea what is required to sustain good football or even take the club forward.

Copps playing right back isn't a new idea. He reverted to right back on several occasions in the Championship when SOD was manager.

He was competent in the role then, and I thought it would be a natural progression for him to finish his career in that position, because it is less physically demanding than a midfield role.

However, yesterday he appeared to me as though he'd spat the dummy out over being told to play there.

I don't, but the fact we are 9 games into the season, we've had a transfer window and now the loan window is open again, we've had PD say he's happy with what he'd got, and RJ has said the same, citing our defensive record, when in truth if it wasn't for Stuckman some of our defeats would have been batterings, suggests we are not looking hard enough.

They say patience is a virtue, how patient do we have to be, we're in freefall and the longer we let this fester the harder it will be to recover

How do you know that? For some reason our supporters seem to think that DRFC exists in some sort of bubble that has no connection with the rest of the football world at all. It isn't like that. They know what's required, they have the determination to see it through. I personally am very excited about the new appointment. Its crucial they get it right, and if that means waiting another week or two so be it.

I don't doubt that. But to reach the conclusion that we aren't looking at all is very presumptuous. In my opinion we would be looking, as we are at all times, but nothing will be made public until any deals are done.

Actions speak louder than words, as I've said both PD and RJ have both gone on record as being happy with their squad, they've even been asked the questions regarding the RB position by the media, on each occasion they have stated they are happy, we can only draw conclusions on what we see or hear, on that basis it appears that we are not addressing the RB issue

'Sustain' in our case is to pour in a £million a year to stop the club folding .. but they don't get a million load of thanks for it either .

Haha! Cheers Red j. Something to laugh about cos let's face it: there ain't much at the moment.
With ref to the right back situation: yes, we may be looking for one. And i'd stake that it's someone who won't cost anything, someone who has hardly played a league game before, or someone who's past it, and probably someone who is crap. Like most of the other signings/loan signings we've made recently.

So are you suggesting the Black Bank get new flags made showing how grateful we all are to TB and DW?
Should we all be singing "There's only one Terry Brammall" throughout the game?
If they stop putting money in would the club fold?
We have had that situation once before haven't we when a certain benefactor withdrew his money. But did the club fold?
How do you know that if they decided they have had enough there isn't anyone to come forward to buy the club?

Yes, the transition from Richardson 'withdrawing his money' was practically seamless. No disruption at all - a real lesson in how to do business.

On a serious note; the game, and the finance required, has changed almost beyond recognition since JR stepped in and saved us back then. The owner subsidy required to sustain the current level is astronomical now, that's why JR brought Bramall and Watson on board originally and I dare say the financial demand is probably why JR's no longer here.

We should be eternally grateful for what JR did, and his public persona was such that he'd always attract the adulation of the fans. Bramall and Watson are different characters, it matters not if we're singing their names, but as supporters of the club I think we should be very grateful to them for the fact that we have a club that's trying to compete at this level. It's not working out at this very moment but we still have hope and security. I doubt there's a queue of people wanting to throw in yet more millions for no return or thanks.

He was never involved, proven.
I happen to know that Copps had never spoken to Chopra apart from on the pitch.
