They've deserved it so far, still 10 minutes to play, so could change, but doesn't look likely

Looking at how the ball bobbles all over the pitch, I'm so pleased we are at home tomorrow

I don't know what was wrong with County but they did nothing, they were as insipid and as abject as us at our worst under Dickov.

If I was a Notts Co fan tonight I would be really angry.

Tonight was slow, a bit like a league match and nothing like a typical cup tie like the Harltepool/Blyth fixture last season.

And the second goal, where the player drags 3 defenders out, turns back inside and puts it into the corner after a neat 1-2 - you won't see many better worked goals in ANY division this weekend.

Salford deserved that.  They weren't lucky, nor particularly daring nor backs against the wall.  They were simply the better team by some distance tonight.

Therein lies a warning to us! We must take the game to Stalybridge tomorrow..

What about that for a second goal. Absolute belter. Danny Webber down there surprised me too!

Verry good result for City. Just watched the game over here in the States and as Martin Tyler said, City look three divisions higher than County, not the other way round.

Didn't Dickov look to bring in Danny Webber at some point, when he, Webber, was at Sheffield United?

Well Dickov was a good judge of a player wasn't he Yankee?
How good was that individual skill leading to the second goal.
Messi would have been proud of that.

That wasn't Webber Hound, it was Richie Allen who came on for Webber, but , yes it was brilliant.

Salford did to county what county did to us, twice, in the cup.

That 2nd goal was pure class, possible goal of the tournament never mind the round lads.

Highlights clips.  just watch that 2nd goal, again and again...

If Copps did that we'd be raving about it for months, and rightly so.  A 7th tier player takes out 3 4th tier defenders with one touch of class.

That's why we go to football..

The defending wouldn't be that bad in the prem, credit to the kid that scored it but the defending was f**king shocking like watching Andy Butler.

Thanks Dickos. I didn't manage to see that documentary.  Wish I had. I'd love to know why they bought the place, what their objective is. It's hard to imagine them ever making much money from it.

Cheers

I don't think there is an objective to it other than putting something back into a game they love with a local team. These boys don't need to make any money and I wouldn't imagine the running costs of a club at that level would trouble them. Probably pays for itself with the exposure and commercial opportunities that come with their fame.

Could be Nick. ut it'd be highly unusual to find a like minded group of philanthropists from so small a population. It must be a statistical impossibility for all of them, from a group hardly bigger, to be willing to throw money down the drain. Maybe they are willing. But it's such an odd thing for them to do. One, even two, I could understand. But that lot together?

Not so sure about that - the defenders initially stopped the Salford player from getting a shot away as he came into the box, and then stopped a crossing opportunity, and shepherded him towards the goal line and away from danger - and got in the way still of a cross or pass.

It was the skillful turn that got the attacker clear. We all like to see our attackers showing some creative spark don't we?  It wasn't as if he waltzed past those defenders unchallenged..

It was more about the skill creating the opportunity than bad defending allowing it to happen.
