On a serious note it does seem like a bit of a cop out by their chairman after selling all their best players last year and close season.

We may all not like the footy he played, but you really can't claim he is an awful manager you know. He did a damn good job at Wrexham and he did a damn good job for us. His time at Wolves was poor - but they were a club in feefall when he arrived and he didn't have very long to change things. He didn't improve things, but the problems were not of his making - like at Chesterfield now. if you'd said he plays awful footy I'd have agreed with you. But he has a mixed record overall - including some pretty good bits.

Jumped ship at Wrexham and Donny with just the one relegation. Relegated at Wolves. Relegated at Crawley. Sacked at Chesterfield.

Three relegations. Two dismissals. Zero promotions.

His record as a manager is awful.

I've believed for the last few years that he did a decent job with us. But having checked the club accounts, and realising what we spent on wages in the 12/13 promotion season, he bleeding wel ought to have built a competitive side.

I can only think of Wenger and Monk right now who you could not throw the same accusation at. And it bears no relation to their performance of the job anyway.

If somebody built all of my house except the roof then I would acknowledge the foundations laid and the walls allowing the roof to be placed. Saunders built our foundation from scratch that season.

I don't rate him as a manager but I can see Bob's point. He nearly saved Crawley from an almost certain relegation and he had that one good season with us before jumping ship. As Billy says, the money spent reflects that though.

Claiming he jumped ship as a reason for him not being a good manager shows how thin the argument is. I hope he doesn't get another job, but there's plenty worse than him around.

I haven't claimed that he has jumped ship therefore he is a bad manager. I have summarised his managerial record in which he has won 0 promotions. He has left five clubs having achieved nothing.
