Stand names
« on January 06, 2016, 07:45:09 pm by Copps is Magic »
So the South Stand has been renamed the Black Bank in the hearts and minds of most supporters so that got me thinking why we persist with bland compass point names for the other stands?

First suggestion from me is rename the West stand the 'James Coppinger stand' - that way people can say they're 'sat in the copp'. North should be the Town End by rights and East stand is up for grabs. Suggestions?

Have you not considered the fact that stands are named for a reason? Income seems an obvious one!!!

Income can only take you so far. Every square inch of the place is used as advertising space. How about a bit of prestige, history and identity.

I'm also not really on about what the club call them, more the fans. The South Stand has a sponsor but most people are calling the BB.

Part of the West stand is already known as the Knockers Nomads Old Boy's Stand. We're just undecided what to call it for short.

The John Ryan Stand.

Agreed. It wouldn't happen unfortunately some people would be very upset if it did.

Why don't we call the bland compass name South Stand the Polypipe stand?

The John Ryan Stand.

Agreed.

But Terry Bramall should also be honoured. East Stand to be named Bramall Lane?

I'll see myself out.

The John Ryan Stand.
Agreed, I have said before one of the stands should be named after him.

Why should it upset anyone? Without John Ryan our club might not even exist now or we could be in the Northern Prem League!

Right, I've sorted it. I'm submitting my plans to the club in the morning.

I'd say the West Stand is the closest to Town, no?

Perhaps, but then it would be Town Side, and that just sounds shit.

Lakeside Stand might work for the east though... haha

We have to remember it's a community stadium that houses three different clubs. You can bet that the lease agreement won't allow it.

The John Ryan stand. Seriously? We would have playing in cantly park in a few years time if sc had got hold of us. Let's leave that debate well alone though.

Why bring it up if you want to leave it alone?

Because surely he must realise, especially in this forum how opinion is divided. I simply responded. There are many a cult hero who don't divide like Jr. does

Having the stand named after them doesn't reach very far then does it?
