Hardly grounds for dismissal! In any case, I'm guessing the deal was done like that because Oldham have expressed interest in signing him if things work out.

This is a bit embarrassing if you ask me, who put that in a contract?

How is it even a 'recall clause'? Surely that should mean we can recall him at our own choosing, if Oldham have to agree to it it isn't a recall clause at all, it's a 'you can have him back cos he's shit' clause, if they actually let him come back.

I'm not one to knock the club's hierarchy but this is a strange one, and a bit stupid really.

Maybe the contract was written by the same person who agreed the Bradford reciprocal ticketing deal?  :chair:

He did

"The lad wanted a clause in his deal that after 28 days if we wanted it, he could come back.

"Clearly now the decision is the boy either comes back or he doesn't.

"It would be his decision."

He is getting games at Oldham which could not be said for at Donny, if Donny go down and Oldham stay up with him there, well Que Serra Serra...Thera are However many on here who have slagged him off, perhaps he is thinking F. You Donny.  I would not blame him

If a clause like that was agreed then that tells me the club really just wanted rid of him, and let's face it, by the end there were only one or two on here still holding a candle for him.  At the time of his loaning, it was just about unanimously received on here as a damned good move by the club.  I happen to still believe it was the right move and nothing will convince me otherwise.  I don't think he's scored for them yet has he?

I think all parties will realise this is unsustainable. It is very tight at the bottom and Main still our player, it could all get a bit suspect really. Is he still under contract next season?

Let's face it filo, when we got rid of him to Oldahm, most people on here we're glad to see the back of him and didn't want him back. How times have changed.

I was one of those, but we should have him back just to make sure he doesn't score for one of our relegation rivals

I meant who put in that Oldham and Main himself had to agree to it to get him back, which is not standard policy for a loan deal. I know from that quote that Main wanted the option to come back, but that isn't what I was asking.

I can only assume the people in charge of negotiating/drawing up the contract on our side of things allowed that clause to be put in, which in my opinion is stupid.

If i am reading it correctly he has been at Oldham for more than 28 days and the clause in the contract says "that after 28 days if WE wanted it, he could come back".
My reading of that line is that if we (the Rovers) want him back then it is our (the Rovers) decision and not Curtis's.

That isn't the case though, it's apparnetly up to Main himself if he wants to come back. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading the manager say "we've asked him to come back" you'd see him say "he's come back".

Some of you seem to forget that a team is made up of 11 players. If Main comes back, Oldham will replace him in their team with another player who might score. Just because Main isn't in the team, doesn't mean the replacement won't score. In fact, I'd rather have Main in their squad than some unknown quantity who is trying to stake a claim. Sliding doors, my friends, sliding doors.

This is as good as saying we've asked .....

"At the moment he's still there," Ferguson said.

"We've made an enquiry about possibly bringing him back but we've not had any decision on that."

Main was Oldhams MOTM for the Sheff U game and came second in the MOTM voting against Blackpool.

Wonder why he doesn't want to come back?

Main wasn't happy here, the fans were on his back, he just couldn't perform, i don't blame him if he has the choice, if he wants to stay there, he really isn't thanswer to our problems.

As eastender pointed out above, we have asked him to come back. Now it's a waiting game.
