Last night I spoke to Donna about the current position. Derek is not seeing any visitors and is unable to stay aware too long and even Donna is sent packing, which is not Derek but clearly the medication that is being given, I should point out now that Derek is no longer being treated for the Cancer which has spread, he is being kept comfortable and pain free but sadly that means sleep so he cannot feel the pain. (Many of us who have looked after loved ones with this horrible disease will know what I am saying).

He has accessed this thread but I do not know how and he is very well aware of your good wishes and is happy at your concern, Donna too is very grateful, although she has not seen the comments.

This Thursday or Friday a decision will possibly be made to move Derek to a Rehab Centre (Similar to Care Facility )But not a Hospice this must be understood as it has caused concern for the family because of gossip. There is no possibility of that.... and that suggestion is against Derek and Donna's wishes, it will not happen. Derek will receive all the medical care he needs at the facility because Donna does not have the knowledge or expertise to give him the 24 hour care he so badly needs.

As stated Derek is no longer being given medication for his condition and so the hospital have to move him to another facility that can still dispense his pain relief and attend his needs. Donna is older than Derek and would not be able to man handle him if he fell or similar, again a major concern. I am to now speak to Donna on Friday evening to see what has happened. Derek is  :rtid:

You do know him, he was Commercial Manager at The Dons when we took kids to America and played at Wembley. 6'1" ish balding chap, very friendly with all involved with the Kids Rugby

Thanks again for the update,  Mick. Sounds a dire situation for our fellow Rover,  Derek. I hope he doesn't suffer too much discomfort and the lads in red and white continue to give him something to perk his spirits up.

I echo the sentiments and thank Bally for the updates on a fellow Rover.

Derek, we are all rovers till we die. I hope you fight for as long as you feel you want to.

It is a true family isn't it, we bicker we fall out but we care about our own.

Whoever the patron saint of the rovers is, come on help him out. I don't know him but on here he seems a bloke with a lot of knowledge, and a good bloke.
I'm hoping that he beats this for himself, his family and all of us he is one of our clan. Come on Derek :clapping: :scarf:

Awful news, thanks again for the updates Bally.

I hope that somehow, someway Derek can find out that we won 4-1 today. Any small positive.
