It's a good question hound, what backroom staff apart from strachan and the recruitment guy have we got?.

It's a few light, but there are enough, the manager and assistant, it's the physio i worry about, he will get 'cabin fever', the amount of time he will be spending in the treatment room.

SM, Butlers title was First Team Coach.
Stachans title is Assistant Manager.
Was Butler the Assistant Manager?
We currently don't have anyone with the title of First Team Coach.

For all the good Butler was, we are better off without a first team coach. However there is nothing wrong with Strachan doing the coaching, he could be classed as Asst Manager/First team coach.  Not that titles matter that much.

Not the correct answer Yankee.
I was asking a genuine question and would like to know what the correct answer is, I know how much you dislike Buler, without any actual knowledge of what he does on a day to day basis.

As someone else said Hound, they have pushed Butler into another position and Strachan is now First team coach AND Assistant Manager.  I don't see a problem with that.  Yes, I don't like Butler as I think he was as responsible for the troubles we have faced over the last two seasons.

But, is Strachan the first team coach?
Butlers title was First Team Coach.
Strachans title is Asssistant Manager.

Also, where does it say Butler has been PUSHED into his new role?

Right Hound, go to the team website and click on Contacts, scroll down to who's who and you will see,

 Manager  Darren Ferguson.

 Asst Manager  Gavin Strachan

 Head of Recruitment   Paul Butler.

Hope that satisfies you.

I had already done that Yankee,  it wasn't a difficult thing to do.
The question I asked is this:
Butler held the title of first team coach and now that title isn't assigned.
So, I asked who is first team coach (and Wilfreda Beehive isn't the right answer).
Brian Horton was AM but he wasn't the Coach was he.

Is it too difficult to work out that as well as Assistant Manager, Strachan has also taken over first team Coach without it being a secondary title.   In other words we don't have a separate Coach.  By the way Horton was a lot older and Strachan possibly feels  OK doing both.

It saves money, when you are relegated, you have to trim a bit off the staff bill as well, sometimes it's better to have fewer voices, less confusion.

I could be wrong but I believe hound is challenging the assertion that he was 'pushed' into the role, i.e. seemingly against his will.

I haven't bothered to read most of the thread so I could have missed something, like.

Any chance we could rename this thread? I keep opening it expecting to get some news on LMs injury only to read more and more about people's coaching/development roles.

talking of coaching when Bristol city won division 1 : they started the season off really well -- I remember they had a hell of a lot of set plays -and scored a lot of EARLY goals before the cheque book came out massive budget - it isn't the hardest thing in the world for rovers to either "plagurise" them or invent their own -- it's called special teams  and having a part time person to help with something like that and give fresh ideas seems sensible

--  glad to see rovers have just invented things like "the back heal"
