DRFC social media
« on July 30, 2016, 06:14:25 pm by MrFrost »
They are absolutely hammering the social media marketing for the fake festival a week on Saturday.

It seems to have slipped their mind however that we have a game on the same day, albeit away from home.

Rigo is probably correct - they are probably being urged to push the festival at every opportunity. And why not? It brings in revenue and it won't stop anyone who wants to go from travelling to Accrington next Saturday. After all, they did publicise the fact we had extra tickets, so I don't see a problem.

As for the lazy comment about the Comms team, it is just that - lazy and ill informed. Things have improved dramatically in terms of comms over the last couple of years. Murrant didn't get everything right, as he'd probably admit, but he raised the profile and they continue to get the message across. I think they have resource issues - I seem to recall we were recruiting for a Marketing Manager and a Media Manager but neither job has been filled yet - but all things considered they do a good job for the size of club we are. People sometimes forget we're not Man United!

Ryan Murrant wasn't perfect but if the last few months are anything to go by I'd have him back tomorrow.
That Weldricks b*llocks is getting right on my tits, as is this fake festival. Commercial is clearly getting its nose too far stuck in Medias business.

I must admit I filter out the Weldricks stuff, which is no doubt the opposite of what they want to do. But I agree Wes, and that is why they need to get a manager appointed who can provide some direction.

Rovers not the only ones to promote "other events"

How awful trying to get people who dont go to the away match to go to an event at Keepmoat !!! What is wrong with what   our commercial team is doing  ?... put yourselves into a position where you have to think  positive to make the stadium contribute financially .

You wouldn't be moaning as you'll qualify for a free flu jab every year. It's a timely reminder.

People need to get a grip...Seriously!!!!

In days gone by we were happy to get to a match and find out someone had signed.  You wouldn't find out anything earlier.

Young Wesley eh?

If he's not trying to hustle in the political New Order, he's having a go at Weldricks Chemist.

Quite. If they were pushing the match more than the event no doubt Frosty would moan at them for not trying to get revenue from the event. They can't win either way, especially when you ask yourself why should they push something that doesn't bring revenue in and is therefore not their remit...

Social Media ?
This site would be better off without contributions from individuals who can't express themselves without the use of foul language.
I'm no angel, mixed with some rough individuals at sea but come on there's a time and place for everything.

I'm not having a go at Weldricks pharmacy. I'm sure they do a sterling job at dispensing Pharmaceutical goods. Reading Rovers twitter and Facebook they certainly seem to be winning enough awards. I'm having a pop at the media team for selling their follows to a Pharmacy company for a bit of easy cash without looking at how it disengages those that follow it.
Taking money from Pharmacies then expecting people still to listen to what's important.....now where have I heard that before?

DRFC are first and foremost a football club. Their social media pages don't reflect this. Whoever is currently managing the social media aspect of marketing isn't doing the basics.

Saddo that I am I did an analysis of the 113 tweets sent out from the DRFC Official account since last Monday.

Breakdown as follows:
Football (inc ticket info) 91
Answers to queries 8
Rugby League  4
Weldricks 3
Other sponsors 3
Fake Festival 2
Lottery 1
Recruitment 1.

Still, nothing like people blowing things out of proportion, is there?

Frosty

I was worried after reading what you and Wesley wrote, so I've just had a look at the RoversTwitter feed.

13 out of the last 100 tweets have been about non-Rovers stuff. 7 of those were about the RLF Cup semi, two were about Fake Festival, one was about the Belles, one about Club Doncaster, one about the Dons and one was a Welldricks re-tweet.

I'm now going to write to the lead singer of Echo & The Bunnymen.

Yes. Under the instruction from Weldricks Pharmacy there will be none next season. Cut down on the cholesterol.

There is mention of match day tickets, specifically ticket sales for Accrington.

As for Facebook, it's no secret that they use Twitter a lot more. In addition, one of the three media staff was on holiday last week. As one of them works mostly on the Dons, who had a home game this week, they were effectively down by 50%. Hence my point about resources and that we're not Man United.

I'm pleased that with the limited time they had they prioritised letting us know about Sundance, the four piece local indie band.
