Doesn't sound like good news on his injury.

One if the young lads is going to have to try and hit the ground running

Well done Mr Kettle. He blew the whistle for time rather than having to send off the Barnet lad for a shocking tackle from behind.

Could still have issued a card, the full time whistle is irrelevant..

Technically yes he can - you see cards given out when an advantage has been played, and players have been known to be sent off in the tunnel too..

Then again, this is Kettle we are talking about!

Was it the Number 4 ?

I ask that because on the Highlights AW was gesturing towards 4 with his finger to his lip doing the "shusshhh" routine but also pointing directly at the 4 with his other hand

So he may have thought OK mate I am having you !

I think the No. 4 had been pole-axed by Middleton before that.

Well he left in a boot and crutches and if its a bad whack on the ankle we will have to hope its not ligament damage else it could be a long one..Regardless he will probably be out for a month at best...So Marquis and Mandeville will probably be our front two with Beestin as back up...DF might have to start reavaluating the none role of "the toe" now for the trophy games as with Mcsheffrey doing his best Steve Brooker impression we are looking a tad light upfront...

I suppose the negative is that we are potentially seeing our top scorer have a spell on the sidelines, but every cloud and all that...

- We have Marquis to come back in
- Coppinger is in the goalscoring form (arguably THE form) of his life
- It will be good to see what Mandeville can do with a sustained run

Of course an injury to Marquis and we will be f***ed!

It was  their   number 5 who was laid on the floor that williams  was gesturing  to.

Copps is on fire but history tells us its very unlikely to continue enough to rely on...This is were we really see what Mandeville can do..DF rates him and he's going to probably get a run in the team...This is his chance....Normally we would have probably gone to the loan market but I'm glad that's not a option so we can see what he can consistently achieve...

From Liam Holden

Andy Williams will have a scan on Thursday to determine nature of his injury. Swelling is still quite bad, Darren Ferguson tells me #drfc

Ferguson rated Williams' chances of playing against Colchester this weekend as 70:30 against. Unlikely then #drfc

The problem with Mandeville is that I don't see him as a natural goal scorer more a player who will set things up for others whilst chipping in with a few himself.

Well if he wants to cement a place in this team he's going to have to find those scoring boots because Striker is were he plays..And when you play up top that's what you have to do I'm afraid...I think he can though...

To an extent I agree DVR (although given how prolific he was at the junior levels there is potentially a goalscorer there), but we're not going to be able to afford a "natural goalscorer" to sit on the bench just in case Williams is injured. Nor would someone who would guarantee regular goals at this level want to come, just to sit on the bench. We are weakened with our main striker out but we have options in Marquis and Mandeville, plus we can push Copps and Rowe further forward if needed.

Look at Man City - obscenely rich, yet if Aguero is out for whatever reason, they either play a midfielder up front or bring in a relatively unproven 19 year old. If they don't have a striker guaranteeing goals to bring in, how can we?!

I'm not knocking Mandeville as a player I think he has both talent and potential but not as a striker, from what I have seen he doesn't get into those positions that come naturally playing that role, he doesn't have the raw pace to compensate either but he does have the talent to play as a number 10 behind the main strikers.

Bruising.

I thought severe bruising as well. Hope there is no break or ligament damage.

Just our luck we get a striker in form and the injury curse hits again
Hope it's only bruising
At least we have other players scoring

It can't be any serious bone damage because nothing shows on the x-ray. It can't hurt too much either because DF gave him a 30% chance to play. I'm pretty sure no information regarding his fitness will be released until the teams are announced tomorrow.

I played with the top of my foot blackened with bruising. I struggled with it and it didn't sort itself out properly for about three months. Though at pro level it's different it does the side no favours to have a half fit player.
I was convinced i had broken a toe the pain was that bad, but it was just severe bruising, with it being his heel it might clear up quicker. I didn't have the fancy equipment they have. Just kept it elevated as much as possible and a pack of ice on for as long as i could stand it!.

Injuries throw opportunities up, one of the young lads has to try and take williams spot in the team while he is out. So when he is fit the manager has a decision to make.
Up front was where i didn't want an injury, that's the one area where we are 'light'. I rate the young lads but we do lack experienced cover. Personally i would bring a free transfer in as cover for the season and loan one of the young lads out
