So, is there a proper midweek fixture we can  fit in with someone knocked out also on that satdi rather than a midweek trek or likewise for potential visitors?  Suspect EFL will use usual logic and keep something like Yeovil or Pompey as a midweek (made those 2 up by the way not checked but more the principle).......

As Stevenage are out of the FA Cup shifting the game from 22nd November to 3rd December would be logical. Doubt it will happen though.

That is an excellent example. Would have driven down,  no beers, straight back, drop off lads then work, Satdi, train, beers, food, day out, no brainer.......

Cambridge away and Notts County at home are also candidates. Cambridge have been replay at Dover and Notts county play Sunday.

I certainly hope the club don't go down that road, why bring forward fixtures from the second half of the season when we already know we will be still without Williams. Leave the weekend blank before the long trip to Plymouth who will themselves be involved in the second round.

Just realised that the second round of the Chaka Khan is between 3rd and 10th. If we get through and draw someone who is out of the FA Cup it would make sense to play them on the Saturday.

since sky should have sod all English football on over the Jan 7th weekend

does anyone think there is a chance sky could decide to televise it on a FRIDAY NIGHT since we have (ha ha to my prediction at the moment) the best 2 teams

ands it is the most appealing televisible match in the whole league all season

porksmouth fans would just love that

I hope not. Travelling up the M1 to Donny on a Friday night is a nightmare.

Just had a look and Sky have nothing slated for that weekend. Would think Saturday lunchtime or Sunday afternoon are favourite if they do televise it.

I'm guessing that the team will be weaker than yesterday so no guarantee we will get that point. Other results might see us through of course.

Doncaster Rovers V Portsmouth is on at 7:45 on Thursday January 5th.

The money we will lose in crowd will be made up by money from Sky.

The weather could play a part whether this goes on or not, unless Sky provide heated Tents to ensure the pitch is playable.

By the way if Rovers didn't want it they could refuse must be worth it for the club, I don't think a 85 year old billionaire would have chosen this game.😂

Annoying.  IT being in a very busy work period means I may well now not make it to that game.

Moving the Pommey game to a Thursday will undoubtably take quite a few off the crowd, especially as they will be able to watch it in the warmth on TV. Hope the money we get will make up for the fall in crowd that we could expect from a large following of Pommey fans on a Saturday.

How many Pompey fans does anyone think they might bring on a Saturday?
If it was 2000(too many?) that would bring £40,000 on the gate plus food and drink revenue.

What would we get from Sky as our portion of the money they pay?

ffs

just seen the developments even I couldn't think of that one

think positive being on tv at least we can't have an alleged "bent" ref

ok quiz time  for the smarties

when was the last time rovers played a league match at home on a thursday (A) daytime (b) evening

bob shankly used to love Thursdays for obvious reasons

We'll make less by this being on sky!  Portsmouth would have brought 2k. Now 200 on a Thursday night game that's on sky. Plus all our fans will stay at home and watch it on sky.
