Jordan Houghton

What a prospect this kid is....he is an absolute Rolls Royce at the centre of our midfield and the centre of everything we do. Do we have any chance of retaining his services next season when we go up.

He's signed a new contract with Chelsea so I doubt we could get him on a permanent.

Surely the next logical step in his development would be a season on loan in league one. Even better at a team and manager he's familiar with.

I think they may want to test him in championship next season.

I think we will have a very good chance of signing him on another season long loan for league 1
He will be another fantastic signing for us.
He does such an important job in the team.
Unspectacular but very effective.
We would not be the same without him.

For me we've got the spine of our team with Houghton, Baudry and Marquis. I think it's essential we do everything we can to either get him on another season loan next season or on a permanent.

Signed for Chelsea so I think permanent is out of the question I'm afraid.

Games changing due to these new loan rules. Didn't ever imagine we'd outright sign a man City goal-keeper or put in a transfer bid for Connor Grant but we did. Is Houghton a bigger prospect than Grant? I think they're pretty level peggin so anything's possible. Wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea extended his contract knowing we'll make a bid in the summer.

Get what you're saying Campsall Rover but like CiM says maybe they gave him a new contract knowing we'd put a bid in to sign him. It'll be an interesting summer as to who we sign if/when we get promotion.

I hope you are right but how much will they want for him?
£500.000 is peanuts for Chelsea and would the board be prepared to offer that sought of money or maybe they would want even more than that.?

I also think Niall Mason has been a brilliant signing. I don't know his situation at Villa but the kid worked his socks off yesterday getting up and down the left wing. It says a lot of his ability that he can play right across the back four and in midfield. Young players like that don't grow on trees and I really don't get the comments on here suggesting we still need a specialist left-back this season.

I agree with what you say but right back is not his natural position but he is doing a fantastic job.

Sorry I meant left back, right back or holding midfield are probably his most natural positions.

I rate Mason but I'd prefer someone left footed and also if Mason was to get injured we'd have no one until ATS is back.

Class Personal Life section on Wikipedia!

Personal Life

Jordan has a girlfriend named Harley who after meeting for the first time in Ibiza got matching 'eternity' tattoo's on their wrists. As a child Jordan was ridiculed for his huge ears, so he put that anger in to training for football so he could earn enough money to get them pinned back, luckily he 'grew in to them'. This is how he got his nickname 'Dumbo'. He legally changed his middle name to Gerald on the 4th of May 2014 as he felt it better fitting of his personality than his prior middle name Bartholomew.

Wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea extended his contract knowing we'll make a bid in the summer.

I seriously doubt that Chelsea would give a player a contract on the assumption that Doncaster Rovers might want to sign him.

Chelsea are protecting their asset, he'll be on the radar of Championship clubs without a doubt, he's been at Chelsea since he was 8 years old, Chelsea have invested considerable time and effort in him, despite being a big money club they'll want to see some return on that investment rather than let him go for free

Patrick Bamford been on Chelsea's books for almost 10 years but hasn't played a first team game for them or in the premier league
Sold to Middleborough for 8.5m

Chelsea have made an art form of buying or developing young players loaning them out and getting fees from the loaning club
Someone wrote something to the effect that at one point they had 33 players loaned all over the world
That's not a football club thats an industrial farm!

The lad is heading for a great career, what a player. Works tirelessly for the cause, defends well & always provides an option going forward, with skill to take the p--- out of defenders when he does, all this & out of position!

I am led to beleive that they currently have over 30 players out on loan
