Marquis for sale?

According to some press reports Rovers would let John Marquis go for £750,000.  That seems cheap for a young successful striker.

Absolute garbage.

It would cost us more than that to get someone in who was equally as good, if not better.

How does anyone know what we are prepared to do? We can't even find out if a certain player is playing until we arrive at the ground!

We simply are not that stupid. And I believe we'll hold onto him - why wouldn't we?

Who the f**k in their right mind would pay 750 for a player who has had plenty of goes in L1 and never really had any success? Why didn't they sign him 9 months ago for free? If I was a manager I wouldn't embarrass myself by throwing money around like that. I'd sell him for that money.

Thanks SM

Looks like an interesting summer ahead - let's hope it is for good reasons with incoming surprises rather than outgoings.

Exactly what you would expect Fergie to say. Means nothing. If John wants to play championship football next year, he'll go. Simple as that.

The bid however is genuine Alan

Yet Fergie says no bids have been received? Did someone tell you but not him DVR? Or did it arrive after he gave his press conference? Or maybe they just dreamt about making it? More info is required here.

They speak to the player before they speak to the club in most circumstances.

No he won't. He has a year left on his contract and the price has to be right.

f**king dingles. Six figures is a lot of adding up for them... the extra finger has its advantages I suspect.

Patrick Cryne is seriously ill and is having nothing to do with the running of Barnsley at the minute. The CEO resigned several months ago and hasn't been replaced. So who will be allowed to dip into the Barnsley piggy bank?

Riiiiiiiight. Ok. Contracts and getting a fair price mean nothing. If his head is turned then we won't let him go cheaply. Nothing naive at my end. FACT.

I think he will sign a new contract this summer, it's the first time he's settled at a club and played regular I think he will have common sense to stay with us and try and push on next season with the club.

Load of bull Gaz!! He cant just go because he wants to go he is under contract for F@£%s sake.
As I have said previously regarding this speculation, we are looking to get to the same level as all the clubs quoted as being interested, we have no need to sell as we are financially stable and I believe that John himself would be happy to get to the Championship with Rovers if possible.
I think we should offer him a three year extension to his current deal on a much improved salary maybe with a clause stating that if we haven't achieved promotion to the championship by the end of the second year of his contract then he can leave if the price is acceptable to the board.
I believe that would put an end to any speculation!!
