Barnsley don't pay inflated salaries, he won't be going there.

They will be able to get a very large pay rise and play at a higher level though.

No they won't. Barnsley's salary level is on a par with ours.

Their wage bill is more than double ours according to the accounts.

Go on then, do they have the same number of players, are there a similar number of senior and junior professionals, what size is the back room staff, ground staff, match day staff, etc

Which accounts are these? The last set of family trust accounts from Patrick Cryne were issued in May 2016. But I stand by what I said, the salary level at Barnsley has been capped at £1.7k per week, although there are one or two exceptions, the majority would have that figure as a maximum.

The new French CEO may change things though, and the rumours are that he has a £30m war chest to spend, but even that seems a little far fetched when Patrick Cryne is still as ill as he is.

Not as wrong as you are Dave, but then again, some of us never believed that bullshit you spread during the last takeover bid.

Looking in from the outside I would say that Barnsley pay a lot more in wagers than us with bigger crowds, bigger tv money, great transfer fees and sell on deals for there players that they do barnsley are in a different league to us

I agree with you on this one commander regarding JM.But i can never understand how Barnsley can sell their players at inflated prices with good sell on clauses whereas Rovers always sell on the cheap.Interesting that Bury have sold their striker for 900k wonder what price Rovers would want for JM

Husband?

Whatever we think about JM's ability, he is a leading light who's made a name for himself. He has the ability, physique and leadership qualities.

This saga represents a sign of where we are at the moment, particularly to the occasional fans, the sceptics and the waiverers. He stays and it looks like we mean business and want to progress. He leaves and it looks like we've no ambition.

The latter will cost us financially when ticket sales don't materialise unless A N Other takes up the reigns and scores goals regularly.

I've spoken to a number of Rovers followers recently and if JM leaves, we won't be seeing them at the Keepmoat anytime soon.

Let's get this monkey off our backs and move forwards!

I'm not questioning JM's ambition but people will question the clubs ambition.

Great fans they are then, not showing up because a player has left the club... f**k me, even United sell their better players from time to time.

nice to see Grimsby 2 Dingles 1 today

to quote the dingle site

it seems to have been a unfriendly friendly

"Amazingly for a pre-season encounter, challenges were hotly contested with both sides showing no remorse. Sessi D’Almeida and Sam Kelly had an ongoing battle of challenges, with the former coming out on top"

https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/july/match-report-grimsby/

just wonder how long it will be before Heckingbottom is renamed

Heckingbottomthree  or even  Heckingfinishbottom

I really hope this is wrong but heard today that Marquis is on the way to Barnsley.
A fee has been agreed. Very good source for this info.
Announcement has not been made yet.
If this is correct then DF has got his work cut out to find a replacement for him and Baudry.

And how do you know he is?  Nothing in your statement indicates he's going other than "you heard". we've all heard rumours, most of which never come true. So why is your statement anymore likely to be true, do you have any tangible proof?

No I have no hard evidence only that it has come from a very good source, not a rumour, more than that I can't say.

You have no hard evidence, therefore, until it becomes fact it is a rumour.

Keep him till Christmas then and sell him to the Wednesdays, and Barnsley will be desperate to try and get out of the bottom three by then, and will pay more.

If you're going to sell your better players, we're probably the best club to sell to.

Perhaps you'll find out he's not next week.
With a bit of luck it should be announced soon.

TBF those posts on the Dingle forum are no different to what would have been written on here if the roles were reversed.
