I am a definite supporter of Andy B. Why can't guys get off his back and start to give credit where it is due. There may well be central defenders out there with more pace and maybe more presence than AB but he is all Rovers and gives 110% every game. He needs the fans to get behind him and stop berating him at every opportunity. He was actually one of our most consistent performers last season and yes he will make the odd mistake and have the odd off day but overall he is sound professional footballer in a league where he is not out of place as some keep saying.

Think IBK will be a great addition to the squad, think he will start as an impact player, will get subbed on for Copps or Rowe around the 75-80 minute mark.

Hopefully he can improve with us as we improve up the league

I find all these comments quite interesting.
Every other thread on the forum at the moment says you can't tell anything from pre-season with regards to where we are as a team. 'Training exercise' 'No-one is giving 100%' etc etc. But everyone seems to think this guy could be the next Copps. How do we know this young lad isn't giving 110% when everyone around him is strolling through games??

I haven't been to any of the pre season friendlies, never do. Complete waste of 4 gallons of petroleum and the admission fee, so I can't comment on him specifically. He is untried in the EFL so at least he'll come cheap I guess. Is it him or Houghton though, or both? If it's both will he get much game time.

With regards to Butler, as this appears more of a Buttler thread than Ben Khemis, he wasn't good enough in League 1 two seasons ago, so doubt he will be much better now he's two years older.
Just my opinion obs. 😊

He's a different kind of player to Houghton. More attacking and a sub for Copps or Rowe. Houghton will compete with Mason and Whiteman.

Basically Issam replaces Grant.

It will be interesting to see whether he gets a long contract, given his age;
Doncaster Rovers: Issam Ben Khemis to sign deal - Doncaster Free Press

Offering longer deals has been costly for DF so far, if he then has a change of mind!

It's always hard to judge just on a few pre-season friendlies but he seems to be good technically, progressive who wants to get passed his man. Come the rigours of League One football on rain lashed windy pitches in November, who knows.

He's certainly impressive and has done enough to earn the contract. The last time I was as excited about a player was when Steve Brooker made an impact!....and a big indentation on the treatment table! 😐

With it being a different country I can see a 1 or 2 year deal to see how he copes.

I'd agree. Give him a 1 year deal with an option of another

Its swings and roundabouts only give him a one year
deal he then rips this league apart then he goes on free next summer

And then everybody slates the club for not giving him a longer deal.
Weve seen him play and DF obviously rates the boy. Give him a two year contract at least. Low wages equals low risk.

The last bit of the budget went on buying a new spark plug for the lawn mower.

Obviously not French if he needs a permit. If he's Tunisian he probably won't get one.

He's a Tunisian international. I doubt the club would have bothered trialing him for weeks if there wasn't a prospect of him getting a work permit.

Work permits and international clearance are two different things.

Work permits are with the government and all that jazz.

International clearance is just the French FA (where he last played) acknowledging to the English FA or EFL that he used to play there and that the transfer/signing can go ahead for him to be registered.

He has been playing in practice matches as a "triallist" ie unregistered, why would he need clearance for that??

Defensive frailties needed addressing last season, unfortunately DF does not seem that interested in this area. Successful teams build from the back. We will concede too many goals this season to warrant anything other than a bottom half finish.
