He doesn't give much away in terms of team selection. I'm just wondering if he'll go with one up top just to contain their initial enthusiasm for the new manager.
Might just be me but the way he speaks about his players & the youngsters we have, the way he talks in general & what he is trying to instil into the club is top draw, he isn't perfect but then who is, what he is in my opinion is a great fit for our club & we are lucky to have someone like him. I really cannot think of any other manager better equipped to take a club the size of ours back to the Championship than Ferguson.
He values the way the club is run, which is a huge factor.
Will he copy the old man and stay for 26 years?
Luckily for us DF has experienced both sides of the fence, being given time, then not, so he knows the grass isn't always greener. We all need a certain amount of stability in our lives and he's achieved that here. The job's sufficiently challenging to keep him interested and to see how far he can take us. I'm sure he'll think the job isn't done yet as we're only back where he started. For the relationship to continue, I think we must achieve Championship status in 2 to 3 years. The real challenge for us all, will be keeping us there. I think bit by bit, the club is preparing to meet that challenge and we'll be in a better state than our last visit. I'm confident DF sees the real potential here even if we don't at times.
A lot of the comments above I agree with. The one thing that seems to get raised again and again on this forum is his dad. I'd like to think that he would seek advise from him and use his vast experience. But at the end of the day he's not his dad.
We are basically back where we were ten years ago at Belle Vue. Could perhaps any of the more financially expert folk give some rough idea of the annual deficit we were facing in 2007 vs our most recent results? Does seem in terms of competitiveness ten years ago we were an upper half/play off side in League One, while most folk expect a lower half/mid-table finish this season. Seems we haven't really progressed in those ten years - unless we were being inflated back in 2007 by out of control spending and we have now 'won' financial sustainability at least.
Someone tracking the midfield runner would have been handy as well. Kongolo is useless when we are out of possession. Looks ok in cameos when the games opened up and we are pressing but otherwise he's looked shocking to me.
