Without looking it up, Dave Rylands, playing his one and only game for Liverpool.

It was hard to read the caption from the cutting from the '74 game however Dave Rylands, it was not! Oooh.

I would love to see that African Violet kit. In the return leg didn't we play in red shirts and blue shorts and them in Blue shirts and red shorts for some bizarre reason?

Anyway, one more to be going on with. I don't know all the answers but we should be able to work it out.

A great photo I've never seen before.

It's hard to estimate the attendance without seeing the corners but looking at the volume of people in the Main stand I'd guess around 22,499.

You're just pulling our legs, it can't be Liverpool. How come there's a reference to Hull on the stand. Was it something to do with ale?

It could well be. We played Stoke in a pre-season game about 1972 or 1973. I'm sure I have seen that photo in a Supporters' Club handbook. I'll have a look.

Update. There was a friendly against Stoke City on 29th July 1972 (I found a programme advertised on eBay). According to Tony Bluff's book it was our biggest crowd of the season, which would explain the well populated Main Stand.

I'll be honest. I didn't see Banks at first because I didn't realise the picture could be slid to the right, where he was hiding.

Definitely from the Stoke friendly on 29th July 1972. Stoke were League Cup holders and that plus the chance to see Gordon Banks play drew a crowd of 6214, easily Rovers' best that season.

Stoke won 2-1 and Peter Kitchen is pictured scoring Rovers' only goal.

To the Rabjohn 2-0

Just joined this thread. I knew I had seen that picture soemwhere else and I have found it in the 1968-69 season commemorative brochure. I must say I thought I recognised Exeter and Newman. Here is the picture with a full picture of the player on the right. Rabjohn indeed I think.

Trying everything to rotate it and failing....Grrrrrrrrrr

Gave up and re-scanned  :headbang:
