Hopefully we will only be singing "In your Cup Final 1-0" - then "2-0" etc

I really think it would be disrespectful of fans to sing songs especially about a topic of that magnitude, maybe just stick to football songs and of course the victims involved in this. Millers fans could have relatives who have been subject to this kind of abuse + even in our end.

Of course they wouldn't sing it about you if the positions were reversed...

If they did, you’d have every right to consider their fans to be scum of the earth who didn’t really give a shit about the kids who had been abused.

Political correctness rules OK.

No, not at all..

Even in football banter there are lines that should not be crossed, don't you think?

We are supposed to be going to a football game, why are people getting excited about other things two days before kick off.
The only thing that will be of importance is the result of the game, and if our team and club is distracted by a side show, we will get beaten.
Some people seem to me have to decide why they are going to the game, are they intent on throwing vitriol at a small percentage of the opposition supporters who will be bothered what they shout, or are they going to get behind their team, and help to make it an occasion to remember in the future.

Political correctness rules OK.

F**k political correctness, what about good old-fashioned human decency? Or does the figleaf of the word 'banter' excuse absolutely any behaviour?

It reminds me of the case of the father from Sheffield who kept his daughters imprisoned and abused for years. When Barnsley played Sheff Weds shortly after the news broke, their fans were singing “You’re just a town full of Fritzls.” So horrific child abuse is seen as a subject for banter for some people. Takes all sorts I suppose.

Edit: In fact it’s still going on today.

I’d like to think we had more decency and more wit but maybe I’m wrong.

But..but...it's BANTER, Billy! If you can't sing songs making fun of peoples' misery at football matches, where can you sing them? :silly:
