2018/19 Kit
« on March 05, 2018, 01:36:02 pm by ditch_drfc »
Most recent years there's been a fan consultation on the next kit... is there anything happening for next season? Usually we hear something by now...

The fan designed kits were some of our best - the blue away kit with the red/white sash looked great.

I don't think they did one last year but I may be wrong. I think perhaps the 'Grandad Len' debacle has soured the club on the idea.

As much as I like the idea - I was shortlisted last time - I am just as happy for the club to sort out potential designs with the suppliers and come to us for a vote?

Otherwise, they choose a kit and we get what we are given.  It's still DRFC afterall.

Still wish they would bring back the stars over the badge to show promotions.

This season's shirt is awful. The early 80's CIL shirt was the best.

This season's Red shorts are awful. They make us look like a conference side. White shorts are much better.

This season's Red and White hooped socks make us look clownish. Black socks are much better.

Yeah it's just nice having a say in the kit tbh. Whilst it's good having fan designs I'd be happy with a vote.

See I hate the black socks (and shorts), much prefer to see us in hooped socks actually. What I hate about the shirt is the inconsistency in the stripes, it does look silly at the top on the chest / shoulders bit. Agree that white shorts are better than red.

This is why it's a thankless task whatever they do, mind. Everyone has a different version of how the kit looks best, so as long as it has red and white hoops maybe we should all just be happy.

Is the star over the badge for promotions?
I thought it was for divisional titles or other competitions won.

How about some narrow hoops this year? Get a bit more red on the jersey.

That’s ok tbf
The stars in my opinion is a bit shit. That started for WC winners.
Can you imagine the stares above Liverpool & Man U shirts if they did that

As you may have seen recently (or not) they've dispensed with the hooped socks at the behest of the players, as they said the hooped ones are more difficult to pick out. They've worn plain white socks for the last couple of home games at least.

To be honest, I prefer white shorts, then red and not keen on black.

At some point I would like to see us with the late 60s early 70s twin hoops.

All a bit needless this new lot every season. I get that it’s revenue and the fashion nowadays but still... and yes I know no-one is forcing me to buy one.

There is a plan for supporters to be involved in a shirt design competition although not as in recent years. Im sure the club will release info soon.

This season supporters were given rhe opportunity to nominate and vote for the most memorable moments of the last 10 years which were incorporated in the design.

That one looks great - bettert than this season's with the shoulder straps - if we want to replicate the early 70s shirt.

My preference is for multiple bold hoops, like the 1982 shirt.  But my favourite combo in terms of looks was

This thread shows pretty much perfectly how difficult it is to get it right. Contradicting ideas and tastes.

Interesting. Those of us who can recall Belle Vue may remember the walls behind the goal were painted red, for the width of the net,  as a contrast to the white in order to give the players a better sight of goal. May also seem ridiculous, but true.
