Not at the game today due to family reasons. Strachen takes charge.

Apparently it is genuine reason and a serious one at that. From Hoden.

People need to take a moment before commenting.  Last time something like this happened it was Billy Sharp and all the gossip was that he was off, when infact he had lost his son.  Also if he chooses not to tell people whats kept him off it must be respected.

Confirmed that he's had surgery due to a brain haemorrhage. Thankfully the surgery was said to be successful.

Echo everyone else thoughts, Sir Alex is a true giant of the game, Shankley, Clough and Sir Alex come into that bracket, hopes for a full and speedy recovery and thoughts are with our own Fergie and his family

His father has been a giant of British football for such a long time, and it overshadows somewhat that he is also a family man, and a father to a son who must be worried about his father's health.
I hope he recovers and is OK, and I am sure that this great club, and us the supporters give Darren time, the space and support to do the right thing, and put football on a back burner until he feels he is able to resume his duties with us.
Fathers, mothers, and families are far more important than football clubs.
As everyone has said, I hope he has a full and speedy recovery.
