McCann, McCall or Caldwell to be announced as manager tomorrow, or Thursday or possibly even Friday.
Get your money on it.

The only hope we have is that Gaz has been fed the info to test the water.
If the reaction is negative the board might change their mind at the last minute.
After all they seemed to do the same last time when Danny Wilson thought he had the job only to find out Fergie was appointed.
This is going to be a difficult one to spin for the the club.
McCall was the obvious choice but already rumours have been circulating that he didn't like the size of the budget.
Clearly if it had been between the two there is no way McCann would get it on the criteria the club set out.
If we look at that again McCann does have a working knowledge of the EFL, and has a track record of securing results.
Both good and bad unfortunately as he ended up without a win in seven at Peterborough.
Does he have the ability to develop players and staff?
We don't know because he's been a manager for less than two years.
He's had no success in managing a playing budget in terms of promotion or play-offs, nor a proven track record of developing a youth structure.
He is a proven leader and clearly the board think he has a willing personality in terms of the budget he will be allowed to manage.
Commitment to Club Doncaster?
Doubt he knows what it means just like the rest of us.
He must have been convincing when it came to demonstrating how he would achieve the aim of challenging for the play-offs.
Or was he willing to say what they wanted to hear just to get the job?
It's clear his experience fails to match many of the people who applied and he has no record of promotion or play-off success.
It's a strange one because this board usually tries not to upset the VSC fans.
Maybe Gaz has got it wrong.
Unfortunately I don't think he has.

I am looking forward to "new manager announced tomorrow" being added to "does he wear a hat?" and "Sheff Utd lose appeal" as the new meme response on the board.

It doesn't really matter who is left in the running, it will come down to who wants the least amount of money!

I thought this was b*llocks when I first read it. McCall definitely wanted more money and a bigger budget. That ultimately swung it for McCann at the last minute. I really didn’t think that wages would ultimately be an issue.

Are you saying that wages is an issue in choosing between these candidates?

So. Hands up. Who had a bet on McCann?

Got £7.50 on him at 6/1. Not massive amount returns.

It's like getting up christmas morning expecting a train set,and they have cancelled christmas.
Gaz it looks like you got the time wrong, are you going for a double, if it's not McGann you had best keep your head low for a while, you will have a reputation to rebuild.
I am not that bothered who gets the job really, Liverpool must have been underwhelmed when Shankly went from Huddersfield, and Derby fans with Clough from Hartlepool.
It's the job they do here that counts, not what they have done at other clubs in the past, thats history, not the future.
Gaz I am sure you were posting for  the right reasons, keep posting, that's what the forums for, and got us all interested, you have been right more than wrong in the past mate.

McGann?; f*cking hell, we're getting Dr Who as manager.

Does it give you any cash out option on this?

No, it's Renault McGann. A foreign manager, I believe...

A couple of ideas floating round that I just don’t understand. Namely that we’ve lost out on McCall (despite him being 1st choice) due to the board wanting to retain the old backroom staff, or not offering him a high enough salary.

Maybe someone else has a sharper perspective than I can come up with...

I can’t see the logic in these ideas. Why would the board, who have stated their ambition to get to the Championship, prioritise who makes up the backroom team over who the manager is? Surely if they want to get their first choice they would be happy to let the manager get on with the football side and decide who his backroom team is?

Same with regards to salary. Unless McCall was asking for ridiculous money, which I can’t see - he’s been manager of Bradford & Motherwell for most of his career. In any case I’m sure Ferguson would’ve been on decent L1 money anyway and we’re not paying him any more. Again, with ambitions to get to the Championship would they really squander the manager they want because of this?

Why would he, or anyone else for that matter apply for the job in the first place.
Surly they would have an idea of both the salary, and what roughly the ballpark budget figure of any 2nd division club, if they hadn't I would not want them anyway.
The idea that out of work managers could walk  into a job interview having no idea, or demanding how much money they are prepared to accept, or want to spend, makes me wonder just what sort of world is this.
All those connected with the job have had NO JOB in management for some time, going from a good salary to picking up media work or something else away from football.
Whatever we pay in salary it will be quite lucrative to the ordinary working man. The idea that a man who has applied would reject the job if offered, I don't think that would happen.

That's likely because a lot of the rumours are complete b*llocks.

Maybe it's possible, potentially, that McCall was set to sign until he revealed that he insists on being called "Mummy" by all the players, so the board, being the old fashioned types, changed their minds.

Or maybe it's possible, potentially, that if a suggested reason sounds plausible people will entertain it as fact, especially if it fits with their already established views on parties involved.
