Touring Caravan
« on July 14, 2018, 08:16:26 pm by Filo »
I've just bought a Bailey Pageant Champagne series 5 2005, anyone any experience with this van, tips etc. Also I need a 110Ah leisure battery, any good recomendations on this front, I 've seen a few but the dimensions are all different, some won't fit into the battery box

Filo, I usually buy my Leisure batteries from the chandlers shop behind the Canal Tavern in Thorne.
He tends to be a bit less expensive than the Caravan places.

Any idea what I should be paying for a 110Ah battery

£65 to £85 depending on make.
I keep my caravan in a garage and leave it plugged into the mains all the time.
The caravan draws from it what it needs to keep the alarm on and I usually get good performance from the battery.

I only need it for the motor movers, don't plan on going off grid, my drive down side of the house is wide enough to get the van down just, but as the house next door is the corner house and we share the front part of the drive the canopy over their front door overhangs the drive by 4inch, so I have had to put mine in storage at Crowle

If it is a good secure storage then you won’t need the alarm so you could probably ask the bloke at Thorne for his recommendations on which battery to go for.

It's Gold standard storage, double automatic gates, razor wire on top of security fencing, floodlit and 24 hour access, but like I said need the 110Ah for the motor movers, not the alarm

Do you have problems with insurance with it being on a farm? Mice infestation etc.

Well, it's only now a farm by name. It was previously a farm, I believe. There are few mice because the owner has a few cats patrolling.

Mine is also stored at Ellerhome Farm. Has been for years. No problem with mice or anything. Just have to allow plenty of time in case I meet Mr White as he is quite a talker😊

Aye, Mr White can talk a glass eye to sleep when he collars you! Smashing bloke though.

Roversontheup, was it you that I was talking to with your husband the other day with the Coachman parked next but one to mine?

No BB. Wasn't me. Just got back from a week in North Wales. Store mine in one of the closed
barns near house. Just as you go through gate I bear left behind row of vans. Barn is just behind them. Mine is a Swift Corniche. Mr White is a lovely guy but as you say he can talk and talk!

I've got one of them Rovers Mini-Kit things to stick in your van window if you're interested. You can have it for 50p. You'll have to get one of those rubber suckers for it though, it's fell off.

Sorry Filo, can’t help you with that. FWIW I use the Calor Lite ones to reduce the nose weight.

Butane is inferior to Propane

Propane has its advantages. It can be used in lower temperatures than Butane. However, Butane burns cleaner and is more efficient.
