Is this the side that McCann says is going to take league one by storm?  Can't remember the last time we last to Grimsby..  I keep saying we are not good enough.

Pre season friendly results are meaningless, I wouldn’t read anything into this.

That’s not to say the current squad is good enough to realistically mount a top six push, it’s very obviously not.

He wants to challenge for top 6, how is that taking it by storm? Give the guy a chance, we all want rovers to do well, give the team a push in the right direction instead of just criticising them at every opertunity, did you go to the game tonight? How did they play?

We'll have to wait and see what the fans that were there have to say. According to the live twitter feeds, we were all over them but just couldn't score.

You can’t judge anything from the result or live twitter feeds. It was a friendly, a glorified training session, no point over reacting either way.

I remember drawing 0-0 with Middlesbrough and arseholing a full strength Sunderland 2-0 pre season under Dickov before going into one of the most boring seasons ever (the one before we went down or the one where we went down?). Absolutely meaningless drivel.

Lack of goals might be giving McCann something to think about. Only one against Alferton, nowt against Brum or Grimsby. 7th lowest goals scored last year.

As others have said, friendly results mean nothing. All about fitness and giving everyone a run out.

Chesterfield hammered us 5-0 last year in pre-season and ended up in the Conference.

Pre season results as an indication of pre season success.

Or either of your two suggestions...!

We are 3 quality players away from having a side capable of challenging the top half of this league.

The sooner we put that right, the better. Doing nothing is not an option, if we want to stay in L1.

When is the penny going to drop?

I know it's only a friendly but added to the end of last season is that 7 games without a goal against professional teams. Surely GM has to be worried about the lack of goals. A new system will take time and let's hope it comes good.

Hopefully it'll click in terms of hitting the back of the net but we need another centre forward to come off the bench and give us something different.

We’ll be lucky to sign 1 more, never mind 3

Even Fergie, that everyone is happy to slag off now, put 5 past them.
Me panic, no chance, I can't get excited enough to panic.  If I had high expectations it would be a different thing.
I want to see us do well as much as the next fan, but we need more commitment to new players than what we have seen so far.

Bit of a over reaction Michael it's only a friendly, while I agree we are very short on quality hopefully we will sign some before the start of the season

According to those that were there we battered them. Unlucky to finish the way it did.

Our strike rate was our nemesis last season and still is. These friendlies have hardly seen a goalfest.

It was a friendly, the score is irrelevant.
If we’d won 4-0 we would still be 3 or 4 players short now we’ve lost we’re atill 3 or 4 players short.
I can’t see how anyone can say after the players that have left and the ones that have signed that we’re ready as we are now to start the season.

I hadn't checked the result before I looked at this thread. I thought we must have lost 10 nil. It would be better to win every pre season friendly  but it's more about game time  and one nil is nothing to get in a panic about, Does sound we still need to work on the goal rate, though.

Lots of chances created but their defenders and goal keeper had a good night . Ali Crawford looked very good and Rowe had a good work out . Alfi  Beestin is a puzzle to me , he has good ball control , works hard to get into good positions and even find players in promising positions, his bamby image of constantly tripping over his own feet gets  embarrassing. But all in all another game closer to the start of a new season.
