No wonder I didn't know about that match then and as we usually send a junior team when had we played them before that.

Sat 7 Jul      Friendly   Alfreton Town 0-1 Doncaster   W
Tue 10 Jul      Friendly   Frickley Athletic 0-5 Doncaster   W
Fri 20 Jul     Friendly   Birmigham City 1-0 Doncaster   L
Tue 24 Jul     Friendly   Grimsby 1-0 Doncaster   L
Wed 25 Jul   Friendly   Deeping Rangers 1-8 Doncaster   W

Just a shame we didn't get a better result against Grimsby. My brother lives in Grimsby and got bragging rites over me.

A big step up for a small club that only plays our development team. Just hope they enjoyed it and didn't feel humiliated.

Let's hope some of the players get a boost ready to face the Blades on Friday.

Yes Hound, and just to make it even worse, Taylor scored.

Why do you keep banging on that they usually only play our development team? Playing the development team last year once doesn’t mean that it’s a regular occurrence. And even if they do play our development team year in, year out, it will do them good to have 90 minutes against better players anyway.

Steve, just to make you happy  it is their level, I can remember you not counting Cheka Trade goals.

I just listed their last game against us.
I did say I hope they enjoyed the game didn't I? Sure it will do them good as long as they don't mind losing 8-1.
Keep taking the happy pills.

It's not just me Brian, the official goals collators don't count Checkatrade goals either.

Thank goodness we are winning.
A season defining moment (apparently) and perhaps we won't go down now.🍰
You are so right,  it could be the difference between getting a striker and not .  :scarf:

Steve, anyone who scores three in any game has done well, and my spy at the game has assured me that he did not take a touch before putting the ball in the net, there is hope yet.

Actually Michael, you did say that they don't usually play against our first team, indicating that we play Deeping on a regular basis.

I think Alfie also set up Romario's goal as well.

If we think Alfie May is now going to be the answer to our forward problems, just because he put 3 in against a team of postmen then we are clutching at very whispy straws..

8-1? Hat-trick? Goal from the half way line?

Bloody rubbish McCann. Come back when you can tell us we've got a top 6 budget.

WC. it is a step in our preseason preparations, and a positive step
at that, give the lad some credit, I have been his biggest critic, but it does not mean I don't want him to succeed.
By the way Steve from the last two Morecambe highlights, it looks as if Mandeville is playing well for them in preseason games he he.

I think it's more tongue-in-cheek based on the previous May v Mandeville ongoing discussion, with maybe a nod to Mandeville's performance in a friendly against Alfreton the other week also being used as evidence he deserves a chance.

Anyway, all good this and I like the method of getting the players match fit with these games this week. Copps' goal against Deeping was wonderful!

I’m with you whether it’s Alfie, Kiwomya or Taylor(if he signs) we need another striker/ forward  whether it’s for the start or before the loan window shuts. Let’s hope that can happen.
Plus another midfield player.
With Blaney gone on loan for six months and Garrett may be going we need another defender in the same time period,

Hopefully this will prove to be a springboard for the season ahead irrespective of the opposition. Anyone got a vid of JC's wonder goal ?

Thanks hound , missed that post when scrolling through . Great goal let's hope he can put 7-10 of those in this season . The ability of Copps is awesome  - we have been so lucky to have him year after year in the team .
