Radio Sheffield at 6pm tonight. This is their manager special with all the local managers together, so presume this is McCann also.

We need better then Taylor and veria. Veria was initially brought in on trial with a view of having him in the development squad and Taylor could be anything.... we need a few quality additions to go straight into the first 11 or it will be another season of struggle

I got the impression he was talking new players but maybe that was wishful thinking.

I've only read what was said but didn't he say centre forward? Which to me isn't Taylor.

Can you listen to it again? I've looked on the BBC site and can't find anything, unless I've just got my eyes shut.

Would people accept 2 new players plus Taylor and Viera, I could accept that.

Odds on to be Vieira and Taylor. That’s pathetic if it is. Absolute bargain basement stuff.

I really don't know what to think of those 2 as we haven't seen much at all and both will be quite a bit away from match fitness.

GM would have seen them in training a lot though and we just have to trust him if this does happen.

Or 2x newbies of quality would be really exciting wouldn't it. :)

If he said a midfielder and forward then its either Taylor or Vieria + someone else. I would imagine Taylor.

Do you really believe that.

We are light in numbers and we might be signing one for the future and a someone who is injured.

He said a forward player and a central midfielder. It’s too much of a coincidence that that matches Vieira and Taylor.

I think we'll sign Taylor and one other forward.
What did stick out for me was when they asked the question about the chairman and how they get on. Others said they're always on phone wanting to know how training was, what's the team going to be, how they are going to play etc. Then McCann said he has a meeting once a month, they just leave him to do what needs to be done, they trust me.

Hoping that with veria playing for the development side tonight will mean he won’t be one of the new signings for the first team and that he will be a signing for the development squad for now

Is it? Why don’t we wait instead of jumping to conclusions, far too many threads are spoilt this way, we can dissect it once we know who they are.

Only 1 Rovers fan in attendance so McCann didn't get asked much, but it was an entertaining watch either way. Always find Chris Wilder good value. He tipped us to do well based on the other night.

Really difficult to see where the top 6 confidence comes from within the club if the two signings are to be Vieira and Taylor though. Undoubtedly not bad players but I don't think it would be enough. Fair enough to expect the new manager to get more out of his players than the previous one but how can the club hierarchy expect such a massive improvement to be pushing for the top 6?

I was a critic of Ferguson at times but even if he had squeezed 100% out of that squad last year I still don't think it would've been anywhere near top 6.

Would "Pursuing other targets" imply players that are already with us, or not?

I wonder if there could be more than two signings in the not too distant future? Intriguing!

I’ve only listened to the first half of the broadcast but though GM didn’t come across that well. Not that charismatic and some of his answers were just waffle.

You could say that about any of their answers.

Thought he came across fairly well.

I do enjoy listening to Wilder. Seems a good bloke who knows his stuff.

Thought GM looked nervous more than anything.

New surroundings, new media contacts, few hundred people in the audience, and some big characters alongside him in the shape of the other managers.

I’d give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Some of his answers were a bit “set piece” though. His interviews with the local papers seem to be a bit more candid and hard-hitting, albeit in print rather than spoken.

Just glad Carvalhal has gone. They’d have only got through 2 or 3 questions!
