Not the midfield for an away game.
Very worrying mcann thinks it is
Especially in this heat.

This first 45 minutes is like the second 45 minutes the day we won there in the FA Cup in our first season in the Conference!

Liking the look of Crawford though.

Have we the players to play a counter attacking game? Not looking good at the moment. Get to HT 0-0 and reshape the team.

We seem to have the defence/keeper to absorb the pressure to be able to then counter attack.

Dangerous tactic, a defence can only last for so long before the opposition score. To play the counter attacking game the ball has to be moved fast out of defence through midfield to the attacking players.

Sky bet stats, Southend Shots on target 8 off target 3 corners 5 possession 57%

Rovers Shots on target 0 off target 1, corners 0 possession 43%

Looks like a team who haven't got a clue what they are doing.

The only plus point from that half is we didn't concede

Yes, though we must be doing something right to have completed the first half and come away with a clean sheet.

They won't let us have the ball the mardy bas**rds!

BBC stats say we've had 53% possession, for what it's worth

It does remind me a little of the sheff Utd friendly we battered them and had loads of chances and their keeper made some worldies to keep them in it, we lost 2-0 , could this go the same way and we come out and play in the 2nd half

But Guardian stats say we've only had 38%. Sounds more likely

Organising to absorb pressure and hitting on the break is one thing.

Being run ragged and conceding a load of chances with nowt in reply is another.

We sound more like the latter.

McCann needs to change something here.

What do we expect with only three midfield players that’s the way it’s going to be.

Yeah, Barcelona are shit. Let's play 4-4-2.

This is why McCullough needed to be on the bench at least

With 3 in midfield, they've all got to work their butt's off. You only need one not to be on his game and it all falls apart.

First chance to Rovers in 2nd half

I'm not saying that the team is doing really well, but I'm sniffing out a positive in finding something that could be built upon
